Man I am looking desperately to get out of nursing, been applying for other jobs, would like to get into recruitment or management.any suggestions, if not screw nursing, i am tired of getting dogged out and no support, it is so demeaning to be treated like i do, i literally lick the floors and put up with others bull all the time, just because i am a lpn.

instead of giving up on nursing "just because i am a lpn," why not look for another nursing job where you can utilize your skills.

there are other venues where you might find more job satisfaction. if you have invested time and money in your career, why give up? unless of course you are really fed up. in which case, it is probably not a bad idea.

Just because you are an LVN does not justify being disrespected. You are NOT just an LVN you are a NURSE.Someone who is compassionate and caring and thoughtfull. My husband is in the Air Force and he gets upset cause people talk smack to him. I tell him, "Babe, that guy is ONLY talking smack because you ARE in the military... Hello freedom of speech!" You are a nurse without people like you (A nurse) who would've helped deliver them? People are arrogant and uninformed... If you love what you do, then do it. Opinions are like butt holes everyone has one and sometimes all you get is loose stools also known ad diarrhea of the mouth:D

Hello, Hang in there....you need to know first of all that alot of other people are also in your position. As an LPN I can feel where you are coming from. I get no respect from the aids where I work, well, backup, a couple of them that is. They are just ****** they are not in my position, so go to school and earn the respect is all I can say to this.....and so should you. Be firm, be loving, caring and be a great nurse! Nursing is more than just passing meds, it is a way of life for me anyways.....best of luck and just hang in there!

If you are tired of being an LPN, get it together and become an RN, but be aware that RNs get treated like dirt too. It has a lot to do with how you act and react to those around you.

Correct me if im wrong, but u can b in any field and still be treated like crap....as long as u know who u are and what u are about, nothing else matters.....and DONT let anything/one get in the way of u and ur money.- jus my opinion

I couldn't do my job without the LPN! I'm so grateful for both of them and I tell them and my CNA's thank you every night before punching out. I make sure I'm the last one to clock out because I feel that is how it should be as the RN. So, I thank you for everything that you do and I wish you were on my team!

HELLO....are we in the real world here? I laugh, thinking we went to school to earn a bit of respect for our titles! I think we deserve, LPN's and RN's deserve the respect!!! If a team is not working together, it sucks....really! I have this going on where I work, but let you and me both remember...I am the nurse on duty, I love my job, I love my pay, I love my residents and love doing what I have always wanted to do, NURSING! But, I will not stand for an aide or cna to back talk me right in front of me....this is not cool! Hang in there, stand your ground, if they want to run the floor, tell them to get their license and come back....anyways, life is good just hang in there!!!

Without knowing the situation all I can offer is for you to be professional. Do your job to the best of your ability, let the pettyness roll off your back, and use your chain of command for problems. If all else fails maintain your professionalism and work ethic while looking for another job.

Personally I think a nurse is a nurse and we all should be working together to get the work done. I've worked with some amazing nurses and some nurses who aren't so amazing... it didn't matter if they were RNs or LPN's it all comes down to personal character and your work ethic. I started as an LPN (now an RN) on a floor that had never utilised them before. Ofcourse there was prejudice against me being there. I just had to work hard and prove to the RN's that I was meant to be there and didn't "make extra work" for them as they seemed to think would be the case. I loved being an LPN!
