Why not a good old Queen song-"We are the Champions", or maybe Tina Turner, "Simply the Best"-plenty out there, but I don't really think there's much by Greenday that would be appropriate.

What about "The Climb" by Myley Cyrus...I love this song and so fits the nursing school student. It is on youtube and if you listen to the words, you will find that it just might work for your ceremony.

Yes I have listened to that song. It was my brothers class graduating song, and the class before his, and the one before that, and that, and that. It was supposed to be ours until we objected.

If somebody played Miley Cyrus at my graduation, I would probably start killing people. :barf01:

Don't you mean the aforementioned "Good Riddance?" Yes, I have that and a fair lot of other Greenday numbers, their older stuff. It depends whether you want something serious, uplifting or satirical....

For satirical, Greenday's fine, for comical you can even look at something daft like what Weird Al churns out (now, for an MD I'd suggest "Like a Surgeon"), but if the OP prefers something beautiful and uplifting, there's always Creed; my choice there would be "Higher".

I suggested we play "Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor, but that got a lot of eye-rolling...
