I was so thankful to have a job...

working at a private psychiatrist's office PT was great! I had money when I went from literally broke and practically homeless. I felt great cause I just passed my Nclex and found a job, although only PT it was nice.

We are only scheduled to work if a patient is scheduled for treatment but none are scheduled for this week. Guess depressed patients are taking the summer off from being depressed? So now I'm panicking cause I can't make loan, bill payments, etc. And I keep applying and mailing out my resume to nursing homes, etc that I could get to via public transportation but I'm losing hope fast. :uhoh3: Being FT would be nice. Not sure what to do now.

And I live near Chicago (I know someone was gonna ask)

I would definitely step up the job search. Good luck.

Continue to search for jobs...You will eventually get one..(At least that is what I tell myself).

Have you looked into supplemental positions? The pay is usually great and although there is no guarantee of hours most people I know get called all the time for available hours.

Since you're already got some psych experience, why not try for a psych PRN job to supplement your current one?

Keep your PT job, and find yourself another job, FT/PT/PRN... doesn't matter. Lean on contacts from school -- past instructors, clinical instructors, other students. Keep applying anywhere and everywhere -- hospitals, LTC, clinics, offices. You will find something.

Willing to move? If working for the government doesn't turn you off, I know a psych hospital in WV with openings.
