Nurses Week

Featured Replies

I've been to two luncheons :smiletea: - got 2 gifts..tomorrow they are serving us breakfast and I think some more gifts will be handed out........it's been a nice week so far! :):weathersunsmall:

All the nurses at our LTC facility got a plant and a card. Big improvement over last year's gift of NOTHING! (not even a card or sign saying thank you.)

i got a nice juicy write up :uhoh3:

not even to my face.

lol.

yeah, i deserved it but still.

nursing week wasnt even aknowledged. perhaps they did somethingfor the day shift?

happy nurses week everyone!!

still proud to be a nurse!

We got a lunchbox, some cake, some hand sanitizer and a pin..

They are also doing dinner for us, but im not going since its on my day off.

I'd rather stay home!

No one is really participating in nursing week at my job. They had a multidenomenal prayer service today, and hardly anyone showed up, I understand. I also suspect strongly, that it will be a weak showing for the luncheons and the rest of the scheduled events. We have not been appreciated, management has been crapping us out and everyone is just ****** off and doesn't feel like pretending.

It's nurses week???

You would never imagine it where I work.

Um, I got a Dum Dum lollipop today.

And a patient gave me a hug and said thank you :)

That meant more than the Dum Dum.

our nurses week started today with skills lab and an umbrella, doing it again tomorrow, then friday they do breakfast and lunch for us they draw anmes for gift baskets and last month we all got to nominate someone for nurse of the year dont know who it is yet. they do something like this every year.

Happy nurses week to all - got a free coffe at my local coffe house; and hug .. that was cool

We got lunch from the DON (even me, the preceptee). I should get my preceptor to wear her cap. :lol2:

I understand that the nurses at our clinic were all going to wear whites & the ones that had them were wearing their caps. Unfortunately, I had the day off so didn't participate. I thought it was a nice idea because most of the patients don't know it's nurse week & this could bring up the subject.

I had lunch at Panera this noon & saw a group of nurses having lunch together. Although I doubt any of then have ever taken care of me, I stopped & thanked them for what they do everyday. Of course I had to share that I'm also a nurse.

Oh, I'm in Iowa & we rank as the lowest paid nurses in the country. Our state government celebrated Nurse Day by voting to give us money. If the amount they voted is split equally, we'll all get a whole $500 more this year. However, their goal is that in 3 years we'll rank 25 instead of 50 so I guess $500 is a start. The money is going to the hospitals to allocate. Guess LTC & clinics nurses don't count. Oh, by the way congress voted to give themselves & other elected persons a raise, some as much as 20%. Happy Nurses Day or is that Govt Day?

For my Nurse's Week gift I got a lovely phone call requesting a statement about a resident incident which occurred on Sunday. I completed an incident report but evidently something is being investigated. But the nurse that did the phone interview did say "Thank You". So I guess that counted for something. Happy Nurses week to those that are actually being appreciated cause we do have the hardest jobs.
