Questions about Diploma Program

My hubby is looking into the RN diploma program here at Gateway COmmunity College. My question is.. is this hard to get a job afterwards without your BSN?

Also its a 2 year school, how much longer would he need to go back to get his ADN and BSN?

Were newly starting this so any tips/advice would be helpful. We live in CT if that matters :)

Gateway in CT? I thought they had an ADN program, no?

ARe you talking about an LPN program? That's entirely different from a diploma RN program.

LPN to RN takes about a year, if one has the pre-req course like Microbiology, etc. taken.

If you get your Diploma RN there's no need to go back and get an ADN.

BSN would take about 18 to 24 months depending on the program and the co-req courses. RN to BSN programs are usually part time.

Not sure about the school but, a two year is usually an ADN program. I have a diploma, going back for my BSN will take 1 year , on line course, no clinicals. The hospital pays for most of it, if I do it in a year or if I just take my time, I can arrange it so that it will all be payed for. (that's my vote).

Can you tell me about how much an Rn makes with a diploma?

Same amount as an RN with an ADN or BSN (some hospitals give .50 to a dollar more an hr if you have a BSN).

Hi, I know this thread is old, but i have a question. I am starting a diploma RN program in January. What school are you taking the RN to the BSN classes with?

I didn't know it only 1 year from diploma to BSN. That's pretty cool. Would getting an associates be even less time then?

It takes the same amount of time for an ADN as well as a Diploma RN to go on for a BSN. Both take 1-2 years to complete.
