I've been a RN for 7rs. Work at a LTC for 3. I live in Texas. Was wondering what type of increase I can expect for a raise? Last yr. my Administrator said that it was based on something to do w/medicaid and/or medicare, but I think that was a bunch of bologne. Should I expect a cost of living raise?

Did you see the article in this months Nursing 2005 magazine? Although i think most of the salary ranges are a bit inflated it could give you a little idea of what your range "should" be. Good luck, hope ya get a good one.

Depends on where you work. We cap out at a certain time. Sometimes we don't get a raise because of the financial part of the hospital. Everywhere is different.

Here, no matter how well you do your job, they have a figure set for the amount of raise a employee gets. I have gotten wonderful evals and only gotten a 2.5% raise. Other times it has been better but the eval was not glowing. The bottom line is hospital or facility budget and the going rate for where you are.

Our range is 2-5%. I got a 4% raise this year. I've been there 3 years and a nurse 28 years.
Thanks everyone. That gives me something to work with.
