Xenaderm?

Is this the new wonder ointment/ drug? How well do you like it? We are using it on alot of folks in place of A&D and Zinc oxide

We are using it in our facility. It's great stuff! Clears up a small open area quickly, without the need to ever apply the awful duoderm. Hate duoderm, to me it makes tiny open areas much worse.

I love xenaderm..:roll a great barrier cream that can be applied only once per day usually.... It is expensive but can be used on highly excoriated areas. I have seen this work on patients that have had excoriated areas for months where nothing else worked and this cleared it up within a couple of weeks..still should avoid use of briefs while patient is in bed.

Can you obtain the Xenaderm OTC?

I don't think Xenoderm is over the counter. But I live in small rural area and find that all the local pharmacies carry it. Although on the expensive side. I agree with the other posters. I love the stuff. It works wonders.!!!!

I LOVE XENADERM...it is awesome.. works wonders in a short time....

which I would have invented it. lol

I agree....xenaderm is expensive..but far outweighs the cost of decub care and far outweighs the discomfort of the pt on wound care therapy...most facilities I work at use it ..( I work for agencey, so am in alot of different health care settings )..it works fast and is not stinky!!!!!!!

we started using xenaderm about 2 years ago.. when the DON found out it is MA rebursable; so the facility doesnt have to pay for it. Most of our other treatments, the facility pays for. We arent 21st century yet.. so this was a big deal.

Hi all, has anyone used this in radiation for skin reactions? if so, during radiation or only after? we are worried about the aluminum that is in it, though it was recommended to us. thanks, gizella

I agree, Xenaderm is great, works well on excoriated areas, however, our facility went through a period where Xenaderm was the "cure all", drove me crazy, same deal with Ultec, which I hate, leave that sucker on 5-7 days on a small o/a and remove it and you'll find a necrotic area. I can't stand ultec. It doesn't sit well with me to let something "brew" for a weeks time and never see it!! Finally our wound nurse caught on and we rarely use ultec now!!!!

I LOVE it too It really works quickly and it goes on nicely and doesn't smell bad. It really promotes healing quickly!

We use Zenaderm too. I found that it works great on reddened areas, in place of Duoderm.. But my facility is now using it for the Cure All. I can't stand it!! What do you guys use on clean granulating Stage II-IVs?
