Let's say you got into the Nursing Program at the school of your choice. However, you still have the following classes to complete alongside your Nursing classes. Which would you have rather completed as a pre-nursing student, versus taking it as a Nursing student (a student who has been accepted into a school's nursing program). Consider difficulty, time consumption, material of the course, and overall interest:
-Microbiology
-English 102
-Developmental Psychology
-Statistics
Which would you rather, or you are glad that you took, during your pre-req phase so that it lightened the load for you during your clinical "nursing" phase?

I would get as many of the pre-reqs done as possible. I would not want to do pre-reqs with nursing courses. Nursing courses are hard enough on their own, I don't want to do pre- reqs with them.

I was more than glad that I finished all of my pre reqs before I started my nursing program....I wouldn't want to add anything else to my plate....
IF I had no other choice...I would knock out developmental psych and micro before...stats was easy for me....and English is fairly easy for me soo I'd knock out the ones with the most reading...nursing school has enough reading on it's own without adding in other classes
I have finished English, psych & micro. I tried taking stats but withdrew from it. I would definitely want to take it before I attempted a BSN program.

I'm on that boat right now. I have about 4 non nursing classes to finish, as I dropped 2 this last semester because I swore I wasn't going to be accepted and had moved and fallen behind on my coursework.
I would for sure get Microbiology out of the way, I have no hard sciences left, and I doubled up on them this past semester to make sure of that. My plan is to take easy classes that I can take online with my nursing courses, but it's also going to depend on what you define as easy. I have no problem writing papers for English 2 and I love math, but it may not be the same for everyone else. So take what you think you will struggle with more first or over the summer. I am taking sociology over the summer so I am limiting myself to one non nursing class per semester.
Unfortunately, or fortunately, don't know which would be appropriate lol... I found out I can apply for candidacy at my school's program this upcoming Fall semester 2015. However I still have the above classes to take either before or after. I have three semesters before I know if I'm accepted: TWO 6 -week semesters, and ONE 12-week (summer (6) , fall (12) , winter(6)).
Here is how I was going to break it down:
Summer 6 week session:
Fall 12 week session:
-Chemistry
-Developmental Psych
Winter 6 week session:
-Anatomy & Physiology II
And then English 102 In the Spring along with (God Allowing) Nursing classes.
But maybe I should double in the Summer session to combine Statistics + English 102. Although I need nothing short of an A-

hey could u check back on what I replied. your insight could help me make the right choice

We are definitely on the same boat. I dropped English 102 + Statisitics so I can get a good grade for A&P 1. I'm expecting a B+, aiming for an A-. I have three weeks left. Looking at how I handled Anatomy this semester and what is expected for a hard science class, I am now more prepared. I'm proficient in writing, never struggled to write essays other than finding motivation. Once I get my creative juices flowing, it's game over for an essay. Math is currently my weakest point as I haven't taken a math course since High School. I attempted College Algebra last semester but failed miserably (sacrificed Algebra for As in English and Psychology, because I realized algebra is NOT required by my school's program so that was a waste of time+money). So that makes taking Statistics a little shaky, let alone thinking of adding English 102 with it on top of it being a 6 week only semester. Food for thought?
I'm assuming that Chemistry is a Pre req for nursing? Otherwise personally I would take A&P over the full 12 weeks. A&P has a lot of basics that you'll probably need to recall in nursing school and I would rather have solid footing on that and take Chemistry over 6 weeks. Does your school not have a full summer session? I'm taking my sociology over 12 weeks
You assumed right. In order to be eligible for candidacy I have to take my last remaining "key" course which would be Chemistry. I am allowed to take A&P 2 if it follows directly after I apply for candidacy. So for example and this is all hypothetical:
Take Chemistry, get an A. Take TEAs entrance exam, get good enough grade to apply. I apply for candidacy once those are completed. My school calculates my total score from achieved grades in completed courses (K* Psych 101, K* Eng 101, K* A&P 1, K* Chem 101, and then whatever I take this summer + fall, K* indicates key course).
My school does not have a full summer session, only 6 weeks.
I'm getting a lot of signs to take Microbio in the summer rather than Statisitcs lol. What's your opinion

I'd vote for Stats because it was the least amount of work outside the classroom than the others. Our Developmental Psych had tons of papers to write and the homework was time consuming. Stats was the easiest because it was just plug & chug numbers. I like math, so to me, this was the easiest of the 4. YMMV
