Worst interview ever

I had to sit in on an interview this last week where the potential hire, when asked about what she enjoyed most in past jobs, informed us that she didn't like any of her old jobs because her coworkers were idiots and her managers were either lazy or "another word for the plural of sphincters."

It was the most surreal experience. I've been in wonderful interviews and awkward ones, but never one this uncomfortable. The manager and other charge nurses were stunned. What's the worst interview you've ever witnessed or participated in? Most of the others that were odd were due to unprofessional attire or just awkwardness or nerves. I've never seen someone tank an interview like this before.

Oops, I missed that she was dating him after you had gotten married. I wasn't trying to be callous in my reply just...Good Lord, that's awkward!

I didn't think you were callous. It's funny now. Not so much then, but funny now!

Not a nursing interview but back in my bookseller days I interviewed for a position at a used bookstore. The woman who owned it was something of a "cat hoarder" and had been barred from adopting cats at the local shelters. She told me after the interview that she didn't have a bookseller position for me but if I wanted to be her "cat scout" and go adopt cats for her she would hire me.

I was desperate for a job but not that desperate. I stuffed envelopes in an office basement till I found something better. :bored:

When asked if I thought I would miss hospital nursing if I took the job in psych for which I was interviewing, I said, "That remains to be seen." Probably the stupidest answer I've given in an interview, so far. The interviewer just kind of gaped at me! Needless to say, I did not get a callback and I learned to think twice before giving the first answer that comes to mind! :)

I wanna be a cat scout!

I wanna be a cat scout!

Me too!! I love kitties lmao

First interview for a nursing job as a new grad. The director of nursing gave me a scenario, then asked what I would do. Needless to say, if I were the nurse in the scenario, my patient would be dead. It was awful. Thankfully there wasn't much more to be said, after I crashed during the fake medical emergency.

Give me the "where will you be in 5 years question" over the "what would you do" question any day of the week.

Old thread but this happened recently...

A patient's family was badgering the staff constantly saying everything was too slow, the water tasted bad, the pillows weren't fluffy enough, the staff are all idiots. Halfway through their stay the loudest one asked if we were hiring as they were being laid off from her current position.
