Working PRN for paragon?

Offer letters usually include a salary, not having one is odd.

Thats what Im thinking it says "depends on which facility you go to"… for salary...

And the lady gets kind of mad/annoyed….

I am really scared I need advice here I have given a lot of my personal information???? including my social security number?

No, paragon is legitimately terrible. I used them for my infusion equipment and medication last year. I used the one in Texas, so hopefully it was just a regional problem.

I was looking to check out other opportunities in my area while keeping my current job, so I signed up with Parallon when they promised me a similar offer.

The 1st person I spoke to at the company, a recruiter, made the work conditions sound fabulous and intriguing. So I jumped through multiple hoops to get the paperwork, testing, and credentialing achieved. Working through the credentialing process was frustrating because they kept losing my documents, not returning calls, etc.

Once I was cleared at the corporate level after about 9 weeks of total BS that could've been wrapped up in a week, I proceeded to their local office, which proved to be terribly incompetent: I was scheduled for training twice and oops! I put you on the wrong day! and, Oh, I can't find your paperwork. Can you send it again? etc, etc, etc. Um...where is your file again??? Ummm, what kind of nurse are you again?

I just couldn't stand it anymore, I am pretty relaxed but COME ON! Plus it was an hour drive to their office each time. I just told them thanks, but no. I stayed at my job and I am still happy there, but I wish I hadn't wasted so much time with them!

It has been a year since my experience with them, and I haven't suffered any problems due to them having my personal info. They are a legitimate company. Also, just FYI, I believe they are an arm of HCA (Hospital Corporation of America), the 2nd or 1st? largest hospital conglomerate in America. So HCA basically started their own agency to staff PRN and contract nurses at their own hospitals. Saves them a ton of money. This is another reason why I was so surprised at their lack of organization. They cited to me several times that there were "big changes" going on thoughout my experience.

I have started the application process with them and this is my experience so far:

I sent a recruiter my resume and requested a call back.

I was called back in a couple of days just to be told I'd be called back by someone. I told them I'd be at work for the next 3 days and wouldn't be able to answer, I was called anyway.

I attempted to call back for 2 weeks straight and was unable to get an answer.

I was about to give up and sign with someone else but I decided to call the local office.

A recruiter called me back and helped me start the application process because she said my recruiter was on vacation.

I have done the application, tests, signed the offer letter, drug test and sent info for background check. It already has been a week since I last spoke to someone and everyday I have been calling the office to ask what the next step is and I am not able to reach anybody.

I am getting pretty frustrated with them being so unreachable, the only reason I keep trying is because I was offered $41hr and 401k.

The only reason I found this agency is because 2 nurses I work with told me they know nurses who signed with them and are getting $41/hr and are happy working for them.

At this point, I don't know what else to do but wait and see, highest I was offered before them was $38/hr and honestly $3/hr more does make a difference.

By the way, I hope you meant PARALLON and not ParaGON.

Parallon is the new name for HCA's travel division. I don't remember what is was called previously but the one thing I can tell you is if you sign with HCA or Parallon and there is ever an issue you will not be able to work for them again, which is not such a bad thing..

I had a friend that was to work in a surgery center contract job, she had a scratch from her cat on her arm that became infected and was unable to start at that time and now they won't let her work for them at all....

Be careful with this company..

Wow thanks everyone...this seems bery odd to me....i wonder why they would want to make so much effort to make nurses go through so much work and not place them to work???

maybe they want to take personal information?

I dont know but what i do know is something smells fishy and before giving my liscnce nimber i am going to email them to decline the offer

Also what i find odd is how the hell can a nurse work in a hospital without an interview??!!!!
