Hi

M6's work in the ICU downrange, as well

I love it. I've been deployed as just a whiskey and reenlisted for m6 school. The nursing aspect of the school was amazing and we learned stuff that is, according to our civilan RN preceptors, on an Very high level. I'm stationed at Madigan now and i love it. I hated med-surg at walter reed bc alot of the people came off as inarticulate and miserable. Not the case at madigan, though. I actually wake up amd enjoy what i do. it's very rewarding. The only catch is, you're still a combat medic (68W)first, LPN second (as currently, its an addon school/ identier--that's the M6 part--and not an MOS), so if you end up as needs of the army, you may end up working as a whiskey again. This generally wont happen if you het assigned ti a hospital unit. Its far more likely in a field unit. With that being said, if you can tolerate the "hooah" aspect of the school and learn all you can of the nursing, you'll love it!,

Gahhhh, typos! Sorry, I am replying from my cell phone! :D

i am presently a 68w, hoping to finish up some classes (6 remaining) to put my packet in for aecp, but it just seems to taking me longer than i would like. if anyone can give me guidance that is a m6 or that has an idea of what the best route for me would you be please share. i'm all ears and open to suggestions.

i am presently elligable to do bear

specific questions:

does m6 give you accredited college credits [color=#333333]that would transfer to a university? i.e. a&p i or ii, nutritom, [color=#333333]psycology, chemisty, human growth and developemnt? and if so what schools have been the most military [color=#333333]friendly to accept these credits?

[color=#333333]would you reccommend this route over completing courses on your own?

[color=#333333]if i re-enlist in the bear program and go through this school (m6)would i be able to submit my aecp packet once completed with the school or is there a certain time that i have to committ to a unit upon graduation?

[color=#333333]any other pertinant information would be greatly appreciated

If you do go to the army's LPN school you can then become an RN in 9 months in one of Wisconsin's technical colleges.

Their LPN to RN is only 9 months. They give army LPNs credit for A&P. Just need to take micro and some gen ed stuff (you can CLEP out of them, I did) and you can do them online well in advance if you want.

Here is the school I went to:

I am also considering about joining the military as a 68WM6. Currently, I passed my NCLEX in California and waiting for the board of nursing to send my official license. I am a prior service member (active army for about 4 years) and hope this will be an advantage for me. I am willing to join the military because obtaining a job as an entry level LVN is difficult and I want to gain experience as a nurse. However, I don't know how to contact a health care recruiter here. I see a army recruiting offices but I do not want to deal with a "typical" recruiter who just want a simple "quota". I hope that someone will guide me to the right people. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Since you have your LVN and would be coming is as a 68WM6 you will need to speak with a enlisted recruiter, or as you said a "typical" recruiter. Heath Care recruiters only recruit officers.

*** i can tell you that the wisconsin technical college system does give max credit for military learning. they gave me credid for every singe thing listed on my ace report. they will allow army lpns to do their lpn to rn in two semesters. go here for ace transcripts.

*** Your RN preceptor is correct. When you go on to cilivian nursing school you won't learn a thing about nursing they didn't already teach you in the army LPN school (what I used to know as 91-C). Some states used to recognize this and would allow army trained LPNs to challenge their RN NCLEX.

Madigan is great! I learned most of what I know about critical care nursing in their CCU.
