Hi,
I am interested in either PICU or NICU nursing. My question is will it look bad if I apply to both positions at the same time at the same hospital or should I just pick one? Thanks.

I think in most cases it would be fine. Hospitals know you may have more than one interest or are trying to cast a wide net.

Apply to both. Most of us (especially as new grads) apply to every job there is that doesn't require more experience than we have. HR understands that.

I think it's fine. The hospital might look at it and think you really want to work for THEM rather than only for one specific unit.

I applied to four jobs at a hospital. The Nurse recruiter just sent my app. to my first choice to the hiring manager and if I didn't get an interview, then she would send it on to my second choice. That way the second choice would not know they are my second choice. Fortunately, the first choice offered me a position.
Thank you everyone for your replies... here goes nothing!

I did apply to two different ICU's years ago. I was not sure which one I wanted. I was called to set up an interview with the first one. Then the second manager called to set me up with an interview. I told her about the other interview and she had seen my experience and decided that if I was not wanting the first job that I was more than welcome to call her back and set up an interview. I really liked the unit I interviewed for and I took the first job.
Thank you everyone. I got an interview in the PICU and I am so excited!! It isn't for almost two weeks, so I have lots of time to prepare. Any tips?
