Why is it? Things nurses do other people can't

Why is it.......

Nurses can be cleaning a patient up that just had a huge code brown and at the same time be thinking about what to have for lunch?

Anyone else have any quirks that you do in the course of your nursing day that would make normal? people sick?

Trying to woof down a pudding for lunch while charting wound care?

I went out to dinner with some of my girlfriends from the nursing program and we got on the topic of emisis, and things along those lines while eating dinner, and after a bit we realized where we were and we were probably disturbing the people around us!

I remember using a tongue depressor to go through an emesis basin to see if a pill we'd given the patient had been absorbed and at the same time asking someone to order me a milkshake and some fries for lunch.

I went to a breast feeding seminar at a mexican restaurant, and while eating black bean soup we were looking at pictures of baby pooh!!Who elsev would be doing that??:lol2: :lol2:

Or wolf down brown pudding after cleaning up a huge code brown.

How about cleaning up a bed literally overflowing with the results of a gallon of GoLytely, and being reminded that your son asked you to pick up some brownie mix from the store on the way home??:lol2:

at school....reading ym textbooks...reviewing large graphic pictures of gangrene

and wolfing down my lunch without a second thought

OR

in clinical cleaning up some chunky and funky looking diahrea and not having too much of aproblem with it...but then grumbling about how gross the food is in the cafeteria 5 minutes later at lunch.....

Rejoicing with your patient and congratulating them on the products of a sucessful disimpaction...

Disimpacting a badly constipated toddler and wondering if my Baby Ruth was still where I had left it. (This really happened.)

Eating the meat off a pork chop bone shortly before dealing with a finger amputation.

There is a reason why I'm not allowed to talk about my day in anything but the broadest, least descriptive terms!!

2nd week of school, hadn't left the classroom yet. Our class got picked to watch an autopsy. After watching the slicing of the bloody organs we all troted over to the cafeteria for some yummy liver and onions.
