Why Does Everyone Hate Florida So Much??

I live in Chicago and have visited almost every part of Florida, I am actually going to be visiting Ft.Lauderdale at the end on January. I ask anyone here that has ever lived in Florida and they have nothing but terrible things to say. They tell me the schools and education systems are bad and that the majority of the population have low Iq's and are poor. I don't know why this is, everyone seemed pretty normal to me?? I would like to move there one day and start a new life with my husband but I'm worried about salary and job placement for both himself and I. Why are some peoples experiences so bad, its so beautiful and the people are very nice. I just don't get it. Can someone help me understand why this is??

Hi crime, low wages, bad schools ranking 50th in the Nation.

They still rank 46th for SAT

all i can say to this thread is this: life is what you make of it. if you are that unhappy here, then move somewhere else -- just remember: the grass is not always greener. and if you are stuck here and hate it, then you need to make the most of it ... life is too short to be miserable. i've had friends that passed when they were in their teens due to heart problems and those who passed in their 20's from breast cancer. so, you can be miserable, or simply enjoy life. i'm sure my friends who passed would be happy to trade positions with you ..... and i'm not saying that in a bad way .... i just mean; it could be worse .... make the most of your life while you can.

I'm with you Flgr8,

I absolutely :redbeathe Florida and from England!

I plan on returning back to live in a few years and just hope that the 'sun is still out for when I get there so I can top up my tan':chuckle.

Enjoy life whilst you can:D

everyone doesn't hate florida. they only hate parts of it. i hate this area (daytona) but i love the river and beach and wildlife (frogs, lizards, alligators, bobcats, etc). The job situation is lousy in this area. (it was much better back home - better hospitals - teaching hospitals, etc). Gainesville is a better area - UF and Shands - better quality

anyhow, i think people hate parts of FL, not the whole state.

i

when one starts living in my house, i name him.

always a guy's name too, like 'stan'.

omg! i do to ... but somehow, i always seem to name them "stripe" or "gizmo" guess the movie gremlins is stuck in my head with their weird names :D

i often wonder where they end up tho ... i never see them after a while and don't find them dead in the house .... it is a lizzard mystery :chuckle

my cat finds them, smacks them until they are completely squished, usually plays with their tail, and then swats them until the carpet. we always find lizard guts when we're cleaning.

i found a darn baby crab in my house the other day (we live on the beach). scared the crap out of me. i was afraid to touch it because i didnt want it to pinch me and i didn't want kitty to get it because i didnt want to pinch her. i figured it would dry up eventually.
