How to interview for a job in nursing when just starting HPRP
Published
Good question.
I've been graduated from my A-BSN program for over a year, waiting RN licensure, and have no idea if I'm going to get put into HPRP or get my license put on probation.
I have a criminal history (more than 1 simple DUI), so I'd really know how on earth I'm going to overcome those odds and what kinds of jobs I should even pursue. I also have a psychology BA but will not work in inpatient psych. If I have to I could start my own business, though it seems daunting.

Not positive if you question was to me, but if it was, the answer is no. I have not worked as an RN before because I am not licensed yet. I've done other things in health care but never in an actual nurse role.

As far as interviewing , what I have done that has worked well is - during interview towards the end when they say - “do you have any questions”. I have my probation board order in hand and explain to them that im on probation and that I’ve been through rehab and offer them a copy and then I explain that I’ve learned from my mistakes . I just got fired at one job and was so scared I wouldn’t get another one anytime soon but a week later I Interviewed in a other LTC facility and was hired the same day! I was shocked! I had good references and they are willing to give me a chance.
I’m just praying my termination from my other job will not affect my probation . I know negative reports aren’t good. I was terminated due to excessive phone use while on duty and taking food from a resident- even though I explained the resident gave me her sandwich because she only wanted her cereal. The sandwich was closed in a disposable tray and she never touched it. I know I won’t do it again though. I was there a year and a half with all good reports and negative drug screens , other than those incidents and also I took a tray of a patient who was in the hospital and it was going to get thrown away - so with that I know I will never touch a tray again unless I personally pay for it. I’ve seen other workers there do it but I was the one who was caught.
im moving forward.
good luck! LTC facilities and dialysis centers are the best places for us to look!

I just had to go into HPRP. I’m looking for suggesting on how to obtain a job. What to say during or after an interview.
I refuse to let this stop me from moving forward. I will do what I have to and know that this will eventually be in my past.
I could use some support and try and support others.
