I was in a nursing program and its 5 semesters..Aftr that you graduate with ur BSN and become a RN. Unfortunetly if u dont pass your class(es) u only get two chances to reatake them if you fail or your exited from the program. In my case I was a 4th semester nursing student and about to be 5th and graduate in the december but unfortunetly i didnt pass two of my finals which led to the failure of both of them. Due to the way my prgram works if you dont pass the final exam with a 70 or better you fail (no matter what your grade in the class is), so they told me i was unable to ,move on to the nest semster and that i would be exited from the program. Im very confuzed about what to do, can someone plz help?
The nursing advisor suggested I change my major (or sit for my LPN exam if i can) b/c i wont b able to apply to another prgram. Is this true? can i never be a nurse?

You can apply to any program you want. Your nursing classes will not likely transfer as most programs only accept their own classes & program. But the school you are at can't prevent you from going through a program somewhere else.

My advice is to sit for your LPN license and then apply to other nursing schools for an LPN-ADN transition program. This will keep you motivated and moving forward, give you a change of scenary and a different set of viewpoints from new professors.
hope this helps,

Most schools will not accept a failed out student from another school. Entry is just too competitive to have a shot at it. Getting your LPN and then doing a bridge would be your best bet if you still want to be a nurse. I would strongly advise though you figure out why you failed and determine what you are going to do to keep it from happening again before you put more time or money into this.
I wish you the best of luck.

Your best action is to take the LPN NCLEX, then apply to LPN to RN bridge programs as almost all RN programs will not accept you because you failed. Good luck.

Different state BONs have different requirements/standards about this. Some states do allow people who have completed some specified amount of an RN program to write the NCLEX-PN and get licensed as an LPN. Your best bet is to check with your BON directly and ask them.

first, you join others who did not finish the bsn program. i have always advocated getting the adn first. i agree with sandanrns, get your lpn/lvn license. contact the appropriate board that handles this license to see if you can challenge the exam. because you have so many units well beyond an lpn or adn, you may qualify. you could also try to apply to an adn course. some will allow accept you as an advance standing student--putting you in the same category as an lpn/lvn. because you have all the prerequisites for a bachelor's degree, once you obtain your lvn license you could apply to a lpn to bsn online program.
either way, do something now. don't let time slip away--as it does so easily.

It is so scary :-( I am two tests away from HOPEFULLY graduating ... but it feels like it will be close. I never want to be under this stress again. I either get to move forward with my life as an RN ... or spend another several months in this spin-cycle :-( Cannot WAIT until it is over.
To Avirel07, were you able to be admitted into another nursing program? Did you decide to get your LPN license???
I have heard of this school to finish your RN at a distance (online) - Anyone heard of this one? Is it any good? Excelsior college.
