What school do/did you go to?

I am attending the ADN program at Lewis and Clark Community College in Godfrey, Illinois (Near St. Louis, Mo.). I am due to graduate in December.

I have noticed one big differences in the way I am treated compared to my female classmates, I have been through three semesters of clinicals and so far I am only assigned male patients while my female classmates get both male and female patients.

So far the only time I have been assigned a female patient was the one day I was doing post-partum work during my OB rotation and my instructor even excluded me from the room during part of the assessment on that patient. Anyone else have instructors who are avoiding assigning female patients to you?

I hope to attend Illinois State University's BSN program in the fall of 2006.

Did my ASN at TC3 ( Tompkins Cortland Community College ) in NY. BSN and MN at University of Washington.

That never happened to me. I did have one patient who refused my care, but that's a different topic altogether. I was treated differently, but never excluded. I would have a sit down with your instructor with your concerns. If the instructor refuses to recognize your concerns, take it up with the dean.

California state university of Pennsilvania (colaborative project with the community college of allegheny county (ccac)). I am currently in the ADN program but I am also taking courses for my BSN because CCAC doesnt have a BSN course.

I dont usually get anssigned to female pt.s myself, I do see alot of the girls get female or male. the only time i get to come into the room is when one of the women need help with the p(god it's great just being a piece of meat)t.Its just one of those things, like women perfer women but men dont care or (ahem!) men cant multi task ,per the instructor. things will change.

its no biggy, I'm here for the pt. and if the woman is sick enough she will take me. I do plan to be the best nurse I can be not male or female but, I have a feeling thats going to be going on for a long time.

Douglas College, New Westminster,BC, Canada. We guys comprise about 15% of the RN program here, but I don't really notice being a "minority"-there's such a range of ages and backgrounds that I don't really think of the gender thing. I have been assigned all male patients in clinical so far, but that's not the case for all of the male students.

Am currently enrolled in ADN program in Ky. Actually only have 3 weeks of class left before starting preceptership. Hopefully will graduate in May. There are only 2 males left in our class of 30. I can say that I don't feel like I have been treated any different than any other students by our instructors but of course I do get the can you help me move someone it seems like quite abit. I just look at it as part of the process and just want to get through with these last few weeks pass finals and be the best nurse that I can be.

Fayetteville Technical Community College in Fayetteville, NC with an ADN. Now attending Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences for BSN.

It's fun being the minority. I haven't had any problems with it. :)

I moved from Honolulu to Atlanta. You'll be ok. Just know this, no good saimen to be had-ANY WHERE! Best Chinese (we're are spoiled) is ALL THE WAY in Marietta at House of Chan. The food was a BIG shock for me. I miss manapua the most.

My boyfriend teaches at Emory so, I am there often! You will love it! Glad to read things are going well for you!!
