What are you doing in between prereqs and NS?

I had a summer in between. I so had a summer break and went on a vacation. Nursing school is really busy and your mind needs a break beforehand, I believe.

I'm applying for fall 2012 so I will have a summer in between. I'm planning on getting my CNA license, working, looking for a new job near my school/apartment, and sorting out my financial stuff. LOL.

I finished pre-reqs in the spring and I start NS in August. I've been trying to enjoy all the time with my kids. Getting the house clean! But I've also been reading the entire Foundations text, just 10 or 20 pages a day but I feel like I'm learning a lot and won't be so overwhelmed with reading the first few months. I have no medical experience whatsoever so I wanted to give myslef every advantage.

I have a math exam in August so I'm studying for that... it's my last prerequisite! I'm not sure if I'm gonna pass it though. :/ I'm also looking for a casual/part-time job.

I plan to apply to nursing school in Jan 2012, so instead of taking a break from school (which I really really want to do!!!) Im taking one of my science courses that I got a B in to get an A and working extra hours so I can start saving my money..

I am taking a 5 month break! I also finished my last prereq this Summer. I will be applying in Sept for the Jan 2012 class to start. In the mean time I will be working and saving money for physical and immunizations. I also have a dosage calc and fundamentals book that I will be studying. Also enjoying my free days, I am planning on taking a vacation before school starts, I was thinking of taking my daughter to disney world. I decided not to do BSN prereqs like chem, I don't think that I have any more brain cells to continue on, I need to regain my brain cells back lol:lol2:

I'm going to take co-reqs so all I have is nursing classes once I start. I'm also going to take any general classes I might need for the future when I do RN-BSN. I already have my BA degree, so I have most of the general requirement classes for the program I'm interested in, except for maybe one or two.

I worked worked worked and saved saved saved because you will have no time to work the first 2 or 3 semesters.

Took the summer off. I'm spending time with my husband and kids, and hoping to get the house in order before NS starts!

I will either work or volunteer in the medical field to gain experience...Maybe have a baby...It's two years away for me and with a military husband anything can change.

After completing my pre-reqs I applied to 5 nursing programs. I had a little over a year between completing my pre-reqs and starting a nursing program. During this time I continued volunteering at the hospital, I also worked part-time (not in the medical field) and took classes part-time. I crashed LVN classes at the local community college and I was able to get two semesters of medical terminology classes & a pharmacology class. These classes don't count toward the nursing program I got into, but I'm really thankful that I have exposure to these subjects. Medical terminology is like learning a whole new language. I'm hoping the knowledge I got from these classes will help reduce some stress the first semester of nursing school If that option is available to you, I highly recommend it!
