HI,
I'M CURRNTLY IN NURING 101 AND MY FIRST TEST GRADE WAS A 76% AND THE 2ND WAS A 62%, YIKES!!! I'M USUALLY B/A STUDENT(PRIMARILY B STUDENT WITH A FEW A'S). ANYWAYS, WHAT PERCENTAGE DO I HAVE TO GET ON MY NEXT TEST(WHICH I TOOK YESTERDAY) TO PASS WHICH A 75% IS EXPECTED. THANKS.
IS IT 88% SINCE 75-62=13 AND 13+75=88? IS THAT HOW IT WORKS? PLEASE HELP I CAN'T SLEEP TONIGHT AND I'M GETTING MY TEST RESULTS TOMORROW AND I THINK I GOT 80% SOMETHING, BUT I'M NOT SURE. I KNOW I DEFINITELY PASSED, BUT I NEED HELP.

Hi,
In assuming each test so far was worth 100 pts, with you making a 76% on the first one and a 62% on the 2nd test. 76 + 62 = 138... and to have a 75% by the 3rd test, 300 total possible X 75% = 225 total would be what you would need to have a 75% by the 3rd test. That would mean that 225 - 138 = 87. That way of figuring it... you would need a 87% on the next test. How does it work there? Where I am, we have 5 exams and 1 final exam. The total of 5 exams is multiplied by 60% and the total of the final exam is multiplied by 15%. The total of those two figures (the 60% of 5 exams + the 15% of the final exam) must = 55.5. That is then added to the other class grades such as the Research paper (x 10%), the Dosage Calc exam (x 10%), and the daily grades (x 5%). Once the % of those 3 are factored and added to the exam total, we have to have a 74% total of all combined to progress. (Not to mention that we also either pass or fail in the Clinical/Laboratory section). Anyhow... if we're just going by test 3 now to average a 75%... I'd say you need to make an 86 on that 3rd one. Good Luck!!! :)

Does your school require a dosage calculations test? How did you do on that?

I'm sorry, no the tests were worth 50pts a test. Clinical and skills lab is pass fail and that is not what i'm worried about, i'm fine in that area. I have 2 more tests to go, one more regular test(50pts) and a final of 100pts. Does it make a difference with 50pts? Thanks!
Oh yah, each question is worth 2 points, LOL so I think you are right!

Not being overly concerned with how much those tests count, with those 2 grades you have a 69 average. You need to get at least an 82 on the last test, which would give you a passing average of 75.5 if 75 is considered a passing grade like it is in our school. Then work on the next ones as they come up.

With two more tests to go, I would think that you would need an average of at least 81 or higher on each of the final two tests to keep your overall average at 75%. Lots of studying, I know! But, just remember... you can do anything you put your mind to! Good luck! :)
