Western Govenors... did you have this problem?

Ok, so I was all set to start Western Governor's RN-BSN program on Jan 1st. Then I get an email from WGU, and said blah blah blah, your total fee would be $$$$$ dollars. I was like woah, that is not what the enrollement counselor told me.

I'll break it down for you: Tuition $3450, $350 for lab fee, and $350 nursing fee, and 35 for library fee.

I got the pell grant of $1800. THen Financial aid sent me an email and told me I owe $5,140. How the heck... that's additional $2,955 dollar unaccounted for. Where did they come up with this??? so is this a hidden fee, a chunk of a hidden fee.

My question is has someone else run into this problem??? With the total amount due??

thanks Lisa

I'm still on the evaluation of transcripts task. Can't wait to start having tuition problems.

How strange! I didn't have this problem... I'm enrolled in their BSN prelicensure program, and I just got my bill from the bursar... everything totaled up fine (this program is $4250, plus the $350 nursing lab fee and $45 library fee). My bill showed $4545.

I would call and find out asap. Someone made a mistake somewhere! Good luck!

Now, I'm freaking out! That's my school of choice.

Sorry, read the numbers wrong... $4150, not $4250 (I got $100 discount on my tuition).

I decided to speak with them about MSN, I was called back within 5 mins of paying application fee, and started asking questions. Was then told I needed to speak with a adm counselor, (re 45 $ library fee, I wanted to know what I got for that), person I was transfered to was really rude, asked same questions as #1, and then told me I would have to speak with an adm counselor. I reminded her thats who she was supposed to be. She got nasty, and I asked for a supervisor. On hold for 5 mins, then back to #1, then back to #2... I then asked to be transferred to Dean ( I didnt get Dean's VM) whomever i got I left a message that I didnt get a good feeling about them based upon initial TC, and I wanted my $$ back for application. I did get back to #1 who transferred me back to not one but 2 bursers and I eventually got my $$ back. Very unprofessional crew in the "Suite" they operate out of. I think I will stay with a reputable school with a proven track record of quality education. Good Luck !!

With all due respect, Western Governors University is a reputable school that provides quality education. It's a little bit silly to base the quality of a school's education off of a couple of unhelpful representatives you spoke with on the phone. I've spoken with a few extremely "reputable" universities in the past, and have had my fair share of conversations with cranky representatives, counselors, operators, etc. In fact, a couple of months ago I was speaking with an enrollment counselor at UC Berkley... not only could she not answer my questions, she was extremely rude and kept cutting me off. I eventually had to hang up because I was so frustrated. She obviously wasn't great at her job, but I wouldn't judge the whole school based off of her bad attitude.

Everyone I've spoken with at WGU has been nice, helpful, and accommodating.
