My husband and I have been wanting to go on a vacation. We found a cruise that was perfect. I called and booked the cruise and the air plane tickets to get there.

Yeah, the cruise is in the middle of September. I didn't even THINK about school. The class I want is on Tue/Thursday. I'd have to miss three classes and a two labs for Chem. I guess I'm not taking any classes this term. Seems like it would be alot of work to make up and chem is NOT my strong point. Oh, well. I thought about it and I'd rather take the vacation than have to take the financial hit of canceling the cruise just to take one class.

There's another school I can go to that has 10 week terms and their classes start in October. Lets hope I can get into their chem class.

Cant you reschedule the cruise??

We could but we'd only get 75% of our money back for the cruise and would have to pay insane fees to the airline to rebook with them. The cost to rebook isn't worth it. Oh well! It'll be a nice break before I dive back into school again.

Yuck..

Very true then..

Enjoy the cruise!!!

You could still take classes but ask your instructor about making up what you missed. At our college you can often sit in on another class or can go for tutoring if you miss due to something excused by the instructor. Just an idea. It seems a shame to miss an entire semester due to a week of vacation, though I guess you gotta do what you gotta do...Best of luck!

Pack me in your suitcase:plsebeg:!! j/k :D

Carmen-

I know where you're coming from. My in-laws have a timeshare in Colorado that we're invited to come out to every summer. We went last year and had a blast! But I'm taking a math class this summer, plus working as a temp, so no vacation time :crying2:. So we agreed to not go out this year. :(

So I would say take the cruise. Especially since you've already paid for it and made all the arrangements. I agree it would be a lot of work missed for the Chem class, especially the two labs. Unless there is some way you could coordinate w/ your professor to be able to make up the work. I'm not one to say put off classes because then it just puts ns off that much longer, but if it doesn't make a huge dent in your progress and you can take it in October anyways.....

I don't know...I desperately need a vacation :lol2:, so I'd say go and enjoy yourself! :smokin:

we are going to go to a cruise in september!

Same sort of thing happened to me last semester. Looked ahead on the school website for when "Spring Break" was. Booked my 1st trip to Disney (at 25! :smackingf) Then school moved it to a week later! I told my prof's what happened at the beginning of the semester. They let me make up those two classes by sitting in with another class that was 1 week behind us. Worked out OK. Maybe your school would do something like that?

I agree, my school was the same way. Perhaps you could email the teacher even prior to starting the semester.

How bad do you need to take the class? I ask because you could simply take it as an online course. Even if you have to take it from a different school that you normally go to. At my school, Chem is offered online. We have two all day Saturday labs during the semester with one lab being in October and the other in November. Even if Chem is not your strong point, it would be very managable online especially if it is the only class you will be taking.
