Hi everyone. I have a question. I am currently in nursing school here in the US. When I graduate I would love to come work in the UK. It is my dream to live there. How hard will that be? I know I will need a work visa and get a sponsor. What else can I expect?

First hurdle will be meeting the NMC requirements for overseas nurse. Probably better your chances on gaining experience in a area that is on the occupation short list and then look fr a employer. Still expect it to be hard

What does NMC mean? Does UK require a foreign nurse to pass a certain exam like the NCLEX in the US? I am really clueless. Thanks in advance.

NMC is the nursing and midwifery council, all of the information you need about UK registration is there. There is no NCLEX but you do need to meet the training requirements and minimum hours and there is an overseas nursing program run by universities which has to be completed

DH and I will be leaving the US in the next few months to do travel nursing in teh UK (our first assignment is in London). We are using a travel company to do all the paperwork/redtape for us (Continental Travel Nursing is the company). The requirements for working in the UK is that you have your BSN (NMC will not accept an associates degree) and you need at least 1yr experience (most places perfer 2yrs though).
We have had no problems finding good hospitals to choose from. I am in Neonatal ICU and DH does ER/ICU. The paperwork to get your RN license and visa take about 6 months!
Waterlilythe reason you and your husband have found no problems with hospitals is because you both work in one of the shortage occupations list. Otherwise you'd find it a very different story
thanks a lot sharrie!:)

I also want to work there in UK in case the retrogression here in US will not end soon?is there someone that could please give me the complete requirements i need?thank you so much..i am an nclex passer already, BSN and holder of a philippine license.
As a new grad you are really going to struggle. You need to meet NMC requirements, complete ONP and find a employer willing to offer you assistance with a work permit and as per immigration will need to have experience in the shortage occupation list. Passing NCLEX will have no bearing on the UK
