Hi everyone! I am in need of advice as my sophomore year of college I applied to my schools nursing program & I was flat out denied. My junior year, I re-took a few classes and got A’s in them & retook my hesi and got an 87% with a gpa of 3.6. I re-applied and got waitlisted as #9. I was #9 in March and I am now #4. Is there any hope for me? I’ve also applied to two other schools but also didn’t make the cut..
I’m already a year behind in school & I’ve just been discouraged..becoming a nurse is a dream of mine! I just don’t know..

Hey! So i went through a similar thing. I had finished all my prereqs last year's spring semester and then i applied for the fall semester to my dream school and i was straight up denied and then applied again for summer and was waitlisted and denied and i finally got accepted for this year's summer semester. I also missed literally a year of school. It IS possible to get into a nursing school!!! Please don't get discouraged!!!

At the college I attended the school had a points system in addition to GPA and Hesi score. The points were for things like being a resident, completing a CNA program, having Associates Degree or higher. The person applying had to apply for the points. Maybe one of the schools has that available.

Sometimes I hear nursing students at work chat about their programs and waitlisting sounds pretty common nowadays. I thought that was weird, so many students wanting to get into nursing suddenly but it doesn't sound like it's one school it sounds like all of them in my area.
I wish you luck and suggest you try whatever "extra" stuff you can do to set your application apart!
