Hi, Can someone tell me why the wages for LPN's in manitoba are so high--$24.00 - $28.00/hr starting!! This is according to the HRDC website. In Alberta we start at $15.60/hr, depending on the agency it could be up to $16.00/hr. How about other provinces??
Maybe it's time to move back....

I would double check your figures. I have a friend doing her preceptorship right now in Manitoba and they have offered her a job... starting wage for an RN... $19.00/hr.

I have been out of Canada for quite some time....
Is R & R Healthcare Services an agency? If so, that would explain higher wages....

Just a quick note to let you know I have seen postings in Winnipeg offering substantial wages for LPN's. I wonder if it is not like Bayshore who offer higher wages however I do not think you get consistent hours. I have worked as a RPN in Ontario and my wage was 20.89 per hour. This was in acute care. I would hope with all the extra skills , expanded scope and such that they would pay us accordingly. Just my two cents.
I think you're right. Bayshore advertises 19.00-20.00/hr in Calgary, but only if you are called into work. I don't know what their regular wages would be. I have seen that Carewest offers pretty good wages and benefits, plus shift diff.
I called the company in wpg to find out, and the reason they have higher wages is because you are considered a contract nurse, not permanent, and you move around to different sites (in and out of town).

I am from St.Catharines but I now live in Welland. All hospitals are now under Niagara Health Systems ..from Fort Erie to St.Catharines - St.Cath Gen..HDH..Shaver Pt.Colborne..Welland General - which has the most hospital beds.
This health system is so desperate for Nurses they requested a Nursing refresher and they will be starting the second refresher in Sept. Ont Nursing Ass. will reimburse college courses up to $1500. per year
