VTBI - pump question

If you have a 250 mL. bag & you set the VTBI less than that amount (say 200), does the pump stop administering the medication at 200? or is it just the alarm that is going off at 200?

Thanks in advance...

the infusion will stop. If i am hanging fluids, I set the VTBI at slightly less than the full volume of the bag so I get a heads up before it runs out.

This.

And it will give a chance to get in there and flush the lines before a problem occurs.

VTBI is volume to be infused. You set it at 200, the pump will infuse 200 mL and then stop because the volume to be infused has been infused.

Ours alarm, and rate goes to 3 ml/hr when the VTBI is in

Ours also alarm and go to a KVO rate. I would program it with maintenance fluids for 900 mL to give a heads up that I need more fluids soon.

Why do you ask?
