I was wondering how many visits per day most agencies do. Is mileage taken into consideration? I think 5-6 visits/day is pretty reasonable, we count an admission as 3 visits and any other oasis as 2 visits, so an admission and 3 revisits would total the 6. If i have too much less than this I find myself trying to look busy. Most of the nurses here start complaining if they have more than 4 visits to do that they can't get all of their paperwork done. Would be interested how it is in other areas.
Thanks!

We also count admissions as 3, d/c or recert as 2 and others as 1. One thing I've learned in HH is that no two days are alike. Some days I have done up to 12 points, but others have done 4 but worked twice as hard. Travel time and acuity of the visit matters. We had a patient on a wound vac that was pretty complicated also with iv abt. His visits took 3 hours minimum. I assume that the acuity is increasing for others as it is for us. We have 115 patients with 20 on iv's. 3 years ago we had maybe one or two.

WE have a similar productivity scale. Most of our nurses are over productivity due to not having enough staff. I worry about them alot.

City/Suburban homecare agency for five county Philadelphia area.
Visit productivity: 6-7/day. Minimum of 32 week if FT.
One admit=1 visit
Two admits = 3 visits
No extra for Resumptions or Discharge visits.
No IV therapy or Psych nursing.
Extensive wound care and wound vacs our speciality.
Agency caseload is about 1300 clients/month in 5 branches.
Receive ~1200 referrals /month, converting about 87% to admits.
My intake staff also process two other homecare agencies referrals: Total 1,600+ referrals/month.

Due to referral NOT being sent to intake and assigned wrong branch, yours truley went and admitted 82 yo new diabetic to agency. Somehow MISSED seeing the CAD on referral. Didn't expect to find 16 meds, thankfully only two new. 2 1/2 hrs later completed visit + paperwork 1 hour since DM program pathways too. Had OASIS clerk hand me form today as I missed answering 550. Also realized forgot to submit perdiem visit slip for pay. So grand total is $10.00/hr pay. :chuckle
Our productivity/now that I am fairly awake this morning is 2 points for an admit, 1.5 for a ROC/RECERT/DC and 1 for a visit. Most of our patients have over 15 meds LOL. Our service area is 6 counties. Drive time is not in the equaison. Yes when I left home health due to a huge driving area my pay rate was around 9 to 11 per hour. I now do QM/SDC/Coding.

Our particular agency also does hospice. We have 2 separate sides. For home care the avg is 6-7. Admit=2, ROC/Recert=1.5, D/C=1. Hospice: Admit=2, and their avg is 4-5. Our agency has 19 offices that cover every county in our state. The office that I work out of covers 3.5 counties (another office meets us in the middle of one county). Our office has approx 130-135 patients with 20 or so being hospice patients.

The agency I work for considers an admission 1 visit. I've done as much as 6 visits and an admission in one day. I average around 6-7 regular visits a day but have done as much as 9 or 10 if pressed or we get real busy. I work for a privately owned small agency and there are only 4 full time nurses and one part time right now. Our assistant director goes out and does alot of the admissions to help us out.
We get paid by the $30 per visit, $10 extra for recerts, discharges or resumptions, $60 for admissions and they just increased our milage from 30cents to 33 cents a mile.

I was wondering if you know of many home care agencies in the Toledo OH area or close by that can be reached by public transportation. Please let me know. Thanks! )
Yes I know quite a few in Toledo as I used to live there. What part of town do you live in so I can try to think of an agency close by?
