Ok please answer question: A US citizen has initial application on Vermont and California. Eligibility came first from Vermont followed by the latter. Took exam on Vermont failed twice, now planning to take Cali for NCLEX. Initially, when one applies to CABON they ask whether you have applied or taken nclex in other states, answer was NO before. Now taking nclex again, I want to know if there will be any problems regarding taking NCLEX in California?

I would check with the CA BON usually you need an a license from the country you went to school. After the third time you may have to take a remedial program. There is an issue why you are not passing, I would consult a skilled counselor to assist you with guidance.

Ca like all other states have their own requirements and always better to ask the state what is acceptable for them. We have had members post that they have had issues with Ca because they do not have a local license and if you are unable to sit the local exam usually a letter from PRC stating this has been enough.
The exam is no different to Ca for Vermont so may find it easier to stay with Vermont and pass the exam and then endorse to Ca
Application for Licensure by Examination was applied at the Same time for both states.
The Eligibilities to take exam for California and Vermont was received already. Failed nclex twice for VTBON, now planning to use the eligibility to take test from CABON instead of VTBON route again.
Eligibility from CABON is ready for apply to pearsonvue.
We all know that VTBON has rules for 2nd time or third time test takers.
Just want to know If CABON will still allow to sit nclex takers for 3rd time eventhough it was not declared at the application that the person took nclex already at a different state or territory. Or its better to call the CABON and let them know about the changes on the application before? Pls. reply.
You need to contact the CA BON to answer. My advice is you have to learn why you failed 2 other times or you are wasting your money.
You owe me an apology

The CA BON says
"Submit a copy of your license or diploma that allows you to practice professional nursing in the country where you were educated. If you do not hold a license, a written explanation is required. Also, provide copies of your certificates for midwifery and psychiatric nursing, if applicable."
My answer was right on target, the original poster needs to contact the BON for an answer. The application asks for a license. Also failing two times in not good.....stats show very low rate of passing the third time.
The Eligibility to take exam from CaBon was already granted from Application of Licensure by Examination. All the requirements was met including the current licenses held by the person. It's just a matter of deciding whether its ok to apply [the eligibility to take exam] for ATT or not at another state eventhough the person have been taking exam for a different state.
Exam results are not really the issue here, the person is doing his best for the third time. He may have failed twice due to lack of review and busy schedule. But then, he got over his self-study modes and this time he enrolled willingly in a review class.
My only question is if he could switch and take his next exam in Ca instead of VT without having problems from the Board of nursing.
We can not predict whether there will be any problems when moving from BON to BON. For most you still have to meet their requirements for foreign trained nurse and they will then make their assessment based on what is submitted to them

We have people here in the US who have taken the boards 4 times and have passed. It could be that the original poster (unsure since the post seems to be in the 3rd person) didn't study enough for the exam, it could be the language barrier, even though the person seems to have a good comand of English with minor errors. Comprehension may be the problem. If you do some of the online programs, they find your weakness and then from there you work with them in order to strengthen those areas.
And they applied to the CA BON as a first time test taker, now this person has failed X2. I don't know what the limit is CA for taking NCLEX without remedial work.
Well I'm not sure because I've never asked the person straight out, but I do know a nurse who did take the NCLEX 3 times and FAILED, she did take a class at a local JC so I'm unsure if she did for herself, or if she did it because she was required to do it. She finally passed it on the 4th time. I also know of another nurse who passed on the 3rd try and she didn't have to take any refresher courses. If I were in those shoes, I think I would take a refresher course because you've worked hard for your degree and taking anything in order to help you pass is a blessing.
