I am applying for the CNL 2020, and would love to be in communication with any one that is applying as well.

I am applying in this cycle also! Planning to finish up my application this week.
I'm originally from the Boston area and graduated from Bennington College in 2010 with a psychology & political science concentration. I've worked in different healthcare roles at hospitals in Vermont and Massachusetts. I was in Peace Corps in South Africa where I did research at a hospital. I currently live and work a healthcare role in Charlottesville. I've been doing my science and math prereqs at PVCC - finishing A&P II this week!
I'm really excited about this program as it has pretty much everything I was hoping for!

I'm also applying this cycle! I would love to connect with anyone else who is too.
I'm currently working on my last stats prereq and finishing up my application. I moved to Virginia recently and have been working on finishing up my prereqs. Before moving here, I worked in various healthcare research and community outreach roles in NYC and Boston and as a Peace Corps health volunteer.
I've been considering returning to school for nursing for awhile and was really excited to discover the UVa CNL program as it encompasses so much and has such great clinical opportunities.
I'm really hoping to work as a nurse with the Indian Health Service after school and I think the CNL route would be great preparation for this.
Finally submitted mine, now for months and months of anxious waiting!! Good luck to everyone who applies.
Here are my stats in case this is helpful:
I've heard UVA takes a holistic approach, so I'm hoping they factor in everything when reviewing.
I applied! I spent so much time on the essays!
Good luck to everyone applying this cycle!
I was looking at a few other schools like Johns Hopkins, but UVA is my dream school!

Hi guys!
Im currently graduating this semester with a B.S in Health Sciences from USF in Florida! I should be graduating with about a 3.5 GPA. I by no means have done the fantastic stuff you’ve all done, but I was a caregiver for my father who recently passed from Alz Disease & have lots of leadership + costumer-service related experience. I’ve had my CNA for almost 3 years now. I’m really hoping to get an interview , would be an honor from such an amazing program. Trying to go into gerontology psychiatric-related research and open a practice ?
best of luck!!

Hi all! Does anyone know when we should expect to hear about interviews/decisions?
@orneryscientist I was looking around old forums and it looks like last year people received their requests around late November for interviews in December. This year, interviews look like they will be later so I'm wondering if we won't hear anything until December. The CNL page says decision notifications will be in February! That's awesome you're in clinical research too! What kind of work are you doing?
@MangoChutney Awesome, thanks!
I've been working in oncology clinical research for the past 5 years, primarily in prostate cancer clinical trials (investigator initiated, sponsored, early phase, pre-approval, the whole spectrum!) I'm now at a comprehensive cancer center in the PNW working on the regulatory side of things. Most of my work is protocol writing/review, consent form writing, basically anything and everything required to open a clinical trial. I've also worked at two VA Medical Centers.
How about you?
@orneryscientist That's awesome! PNW is amazing, I visited for the first time recently.
I'm in my second year of surgery/transplant research -- mix of device and drug sponsored and investigator initiated trials for lung, liver, and kidneys. My work is a mix of patient consent/follow-up and regulatory. I've been learning more about study start-up this year. The surgeries have been the most exciting part for me though!
It seems like all of you have really interesting, varied backgrounds!
I currently work as a case manager at UVA in an outpatient clinic. I help patients navigate psychosocial issues, link them to community resources, and provide patient navigation service across different specialties. The goals are to help them independently manage their health issues, streamline their care and eliminate care duplication.
I am switching to a research project coordinator position next week focusing on rural health issues in the southern US - very excited to try something new!
Hey guys!
I just asked Tara from admissions and she said mid November for interview invites!
