I applied and got the email Tuesday that it was under manager/educator review.
Got an email to interview and check references today. It says I will be called to interview within the next two weeks.

After seeing this post, I applied to BMT unit. I interviewed for tele unit back in July. I interviewed with HR and then had panel interview, but another candidate was chosen. Maybe I will have better luck, but I do have my eye on a job pending security clearance-it doesnt hurt to have back-ups! I wish you luck, and review meds. for the unit you are applying-they asked me about several cardiac meds and I was not really too ready-I regret that!
At UTSW? They are only offering two internships this time around - telemetry and med-surg. Oh, and they have one spot available in ICU. That's it.

I interviewed for a med/surg internship at UTSW last year, but the senior recruiter who interviewed me was very scornful during the interview and did not seem too fond of me. Well, I was not the least bit surprised when she sent me a personalized rejection email about a week after the interview was conducted.
Good luck to those of you who are trying to get in!

UTSW has a few ambulatory nursing positions and even though they ask for experience, I know that they will hire someone without. It is not hospital nursing (very much like a doctor's office), but it will at least get your "foot in the door" so to speak at UTSW. As a plus, the positions are M-F 8am to 5pm and the work is rediculously easy. Their policy allows you to transfer internally after 1 year of employment.
I got an offer today at another facility and I am inclined to accept, so I won't be pursuing UTSW. Good luck everyone!!
Congratulations!

Just 1nRN I noticed you mentioned ambulatory nursing position might be available at UTSW. I looked up the ambulatory nurse positions but they say it requires four years of experience. I noticed they are in different areas too. Would they really hire a new grad?
I will be graduating in December with an ADN and really would like to work at UTSW.
UTSW is interviewing now for their January internships. They had one opening in ICU and a couple of openings in Telemetry and Med-Surg. They will not hire new grads outside of their internships in the hospital setting, but not sure about ambulatory care. Four years experience is a lot more than most usually request, so am thinking probably not unless you know someone on the inside. Hope this helps.
I was thinking the same thing but Just1nRN seemed like she knew something more about it. Luckily, I do have an interview with UTSW. I think it is for the telemetry floor. I know the competition is fierce so I am hoping for the best but I know not to get too excited yet! I thought the ambulatory nurse positions might be a possible alternative. Thanks for clarifying.
