UTMB FALL 2014

I would like to start a thread for UTMB FALL 2014 since there I cannot find one. I am in the process of applying and this is the only school I am applying to. Right now, I just trying to finish my personal statement before I can submit it. I am a bit nervous and excited at the same time. So, how is everyone else doing?

We should keep in touch. Are you retaking the TEAS?

haha i agree. i'm a nervous wreck over here! no i am not. I got a 92.7% on the TEAs. my GPA is pretty darn low and i'm still taking a lot of pre reqs ..so those are probably the reasons why i haven't been contacted yet :/

For those of you planning to reapply, what were your stats? What do you think might be holding you back?

Someone suggested to me that when they were applying to med school they were advised to call and ask why they didn't get in and what they could do better to improve their chances.

Wow. That's really impressive. That's what I got on the hesi. But I took the teas and it was so different!! I think the personal statement adds a lot too. My personal statement was pretty impactful, I thought. Because my overall gpa is only a 3.3. :(

my overall GPA is less than a 3.0. i'm pretty sure that's the main reason that's holding me back :(

I made an 84.5% on the TEAS but my GPA is low too. I'm done with my prerequisites this semester so I hope if I don't get an interview or accept this semester, then I will have a better chance for spring.

My TEAS score was low 70s I'm so embarrassed I dont want to say. Let's just say it could have been better. My GPA 3.6 mist of my grades consist of A's and B's one course that I retook and no drops. I felt as though my personal statement was great. I also attached a detailed personal statetement because My regular statement stated certain semesters I didn't do good on because of a certain event. My work experience (I am a CNA), volunteer work...etc. Where as my attached personal statement included how and why I want to be a nurse, my personal background etc... But I really think that the one thing holding me back is my TEAS score and maybe my science GPA that Is barely a 3.6 other than that I don't know.

I too am in the same situation as the both of you. My TEAS is a 90 and my GPA will barely be a 3.0 after this semester, which is my last for prereqs. Hopefully our awesome test scores will be in our favor for the latter part of admissions.

I will be reapplying in the spring if I don't get in this time.

*edit*

I'm actually curious which GPA they put the most weight on? Idk about for you guys (@lhletran and @nursinghereicome27) but my overall GPA is the very low one but my prereq and science prereq GPA's are outstanding. I've made 4.0's the last 3 semesters taking my prereqs.

I got in!!! I interviewed on the 11th of this month and just received my acceptance email. Although I was also accepted to TWU-Houston, UTMB was my first choice! Best wishes to everyone who may still be waiting.
