UTA Spring 2012

Alas! Here I go again!;) This thread is dedicated to all hopefuls to either of the programs- AP or traditional. Let's partake in the sharing of ideas, suggestions, and/or insight in the "intricacies" of this nursing program. Former grads, new or current students are encouraged to chat. Knowledge is power, indeed! Continued blessings and success to all! Good Luck!:D

My advisor isn't even accepting emails right now. I just sent her one and got an automated "we're too busy right now" response.

Ugh, Ugh, Ugh! Did I say UGH?

Ok so I just got off the phone with a lady (name not given just said she handles the letters) and they are NOT going out until sometime NEXT WEEK!!! UGH!!

@Libra1018 ....I had originally called because of the HESI note above and she said that today was NOT the deadline and that it was Jan 5th ... I told her that the website said today and she said "well your talking to the person that handles that and I'm telling you that today is not the deadline..it's Jan 5th!!" She was so short with me (and kept telling me that they don't set deadlines before applicants know of their status for previous applications) and the conversation was very awkward. :( I will not be calling back that's for sure!!

Oops hit post too soon...so I'm very confused about all the misinformation and not sure what to believe now??!!! :-/

katybusymom I was saying a much DIFFERENT word. :D I also got the "go away we are busy" response too though.

Tejas03 and katybusymom I have not heard back from my advisor yet either. I also asked her if she could let me know what my GPA's are calculated at. I know I can do it, but I don't know that they will have the same number I do.

I am assuming they are not counting my A in Micro retake since that finished in mid-October, so this is what I calculated and I still think I might be off.

Science: 3.5 (without retake) 3.75 (with retake)

Overall incl science 3.7 (without) 3.76 (with)

HESI is a 389.83

I will let you know what she tells me. She's usually good about getting back to me, so today is day 2 without a response. I am hoping I will hear this week.

And thanks, Tejas03, for calling re: the notices.

I asked my advisor about my gpa several weeks ago. She said that she was not allowed to discuss gpa at all via email and pretty much refused to have a phone conference with me.

So, what do you think my chances are of getting into a school where I've never met my advisor or even had an actual conversation with? Yep. Slim and none is what I came up with too. I've spoken to the Asst. Dean more than with my own advisor.

@libra, Your stats are almost identical to mine. I've taken all sciences at UTA, more than 30hrs, and have a 3.73 GPA. It will be interesting to see where we all end up.

Hello, I have a question. I was quite confused on the admissions requirements because the nursing catalog and bsn on campus flyer are contradictory. I just wanted to know what are the admission requirements? It seems like they both have in common that you must have at least 12 of 16 science credits completed but the catalog mentions that the 3 nursing courses must be completed before applying. Can someone clarify? Thank you!

3 of the 4 sciences must be completed by app deadline. All prerequs (including the 3 nursing classes) must be completed though before you start nursing school (assuming acceptance has been granted).

The 3 nursing courses, Intro to Nursing, Pharmacology, and Pathophysiology, don't have to be completed when you apply, but must be completed before you can begin the program. Hopefully you are already started on at least one of those classes though when you apply. Patho and Pharm, if taken through UTA, are not the typical 8 week course. They are longer and are not taught as often.

The bulk of us on this thread are still working on our last couple of classes. Several of us are currently in Patho or Pharm or both.

Hope that made sense and hope it helps!

It definitely helped a lot! When I thought I had to have the 3 nursing classes done before applying i ruled uta out of my choices but now they're in. I'm so happy! :) thank you so much

Did everyone here complete Chemistry at UTA? I know it says if chemistry is in two sections both must be completed to complete the chemistry requirement. So if I were to take both chemistry, the requirement of 12 science credits still stands for admissions right? Also I read some terrible things about the Chem online at UTA, is it really difficult?

just got an email back from my advisor and she said letters are going out this week or next {not holding my breath for this week b/c of tejas' phone call and the fact that it's Thursday}!

what a bummer! why is it so difficult and such a circus to get letters out? It would be nice to get them earlier so you know how to plan next semesters classes. its funny how some schools take only 3 months to make decisions and UTA takes over 5 months. I guess I will just assume later than sooner so I can stop obsessing over it...

Thanks for the info!
