UTA Spring 2012

Alas! Here I go again!;) This thread is dedicated to all hopefuls to either of the programs- AP or traditional. Let's partake in the sharing of ideas, suggestions, and/or insight in the "intricacies" of this nursing program. Former grads, new or current students are encouraged to chat. Knowledge is power, indeed! Continued blessings and success to all! Good Luck!:D

@SA423 - Your stats are competitive so I would not let that discourage you. It is just frustrating for everyone to be told one thing and they do another. Hopefully, we get our letters this week. I do not have class the rest of the week and do not work so I will be posting if I receive a letter as I get my mail pretty early.

Good Luck!

Does anyone know what the class and clinical schedules are like at UTA for the traditional program? I, like everyone else here, am waiting, but I'm wondering how to manage work with school if I do happen to get accepted.

No letter today guys... :(

Has anybody spoken again to advisors about the delay?

I spoke with the office of nursing on Monday and they said letters still had not gone out and were planning to get them out by the end of the week. They said the same thing to me last week so I am not really taking them seriously. I called again yesterday to check the status and now everything is forwarded to voice-mail and the office will not respond at all :( So maybe by the end of the week we will have notice?

@LAD0103- Thanks so much for the update! Even though it is disheartening news. I really just do not understand why it is such a hard thing to do. Why not just email and then send out letters. Guess, I will just continue to keep an eye on my mail. I know eventually it will come.

Good luck!

@ kaystarz- Thanks for posting every day for a few days now! I look forward to when you actually say "I got my acceptance letter today!!" haha. Thanks again for informing us every day! keep 'em coming!

No problem. I sure hope that happens but if not at least I know instead of anxiously waiting.. lol I will continue to update.

I am not holding out any hope, honestly, of acceptance into the AP program. I hate to be Debbie Downer, but I am trying to be realistic with myself. We all know how rare it is to be accepted without employment at a partner hospital, no matter what your stats are. And the prior degree really doesn't make a difference it seems when the program is open to everyone and employees get first dibs on the slots.

The thing I am most annoyed about is that the app deadline was at the the beginning of JUNE. Now here we are almost in the middle of November. TCC's deadline was 09/30 and word was sent at the end of OCTOBER. Only one month turnaround. I understand that UTA might get more applicants, but the number is not THAT much higher that it would warrant taking this much more time. Other major public universities don't take this long.

My only hope at this point is possible acceptance into the traditional program. I might have a better shot there.

While trying to find out ANY information about what class schedules/clinical schedules MIGHT be like if we do get in, I talked to the secretary in the advisers office. She stated that it will be at LEAST two more weeks before letters go out "due to glitches". I couldn't even get a straight answer about potential schedules either! For those of us who have lives we will have to completely rearrange PRIOR to January, this is just RIDICULOUS! Just an FYI, I applied to UT Tyler with an application due date of September 15th and received my letter on October 24th. THAT is the kind of efficiency I would expect from UTA as well.

Called the Nursing Dept. Yesterday afternoon 4:15 or so. Was told letter HAVE been mailed. We should know this week or early next week depending on the mail service.

We shall see.....

Good luck everybody !

Did you apply for the Good Shepherd program in Longview?
