Hi,
I am a Canadian educated RN, wrote the NLCLEX in Canada, and currently working in NY state. I am going through the process to receive my CA license now and am wondering if I can use CGFNS to verify my education credentials (transcript, course verification) and to verify my other credentials (RN licenses in Canada and NCLEX proof). I had used CGNFS for this whole process in March 2019 for my NY state license. CA state board is very wishy washy with their answers and keep passing me between staff who have yet to be able to answer this. I spoke with CGFNS who says this is possible if I ask for and am granted an "exception" from the CA licensing board.
Has anyone successfully done this? I would just try it, however it is wasted time and money ($225) if unsuccessful. Any insight would be helpful!

California BRN does their own evaluation of your transcript regardless of where you got your degree. They don't require CGFNS or any other evaluation agency to do it. You will have to undergo the process of endorsing your RN license from New York to California.
Yes, I know California reviews everything themselves. I was more wondering if I could have my transcripts and licensing sent by CGFNS to California for review. This would be instead of going to all the licensing boards/ nursing school and having it sent in, as this has delayed the licensing process int he past.

The BRN requires the applicant to get the nursing education transcript directly from where you get the diploma which is coming from your school regardless if this would be your initial licensure exam application or endorsement. They don't need to receive it from any evaluating agency. That's California.
Don't waste your money asking CGFNS to send your transcript to California BRN. They won't accept it.
There will be a form that you need to fill out to give it to your nursing school to request the transcript. So there's no purpose of asking CGFNS or any evaluating agency to send it to them.
Let me reiterate and I hope this clarifies your concern that the California BRN requires your transcript DIRECTLY from the school where you earned your nursing degree. Good luck!

Hi! Did you use CGFNS to send you transcripts to CA?
Hi! Yes I did, my international evaluator at the CA BON approved me to send my transcripts and licenses via CGFNS. This may be an exception with the pandemic as they even offered to have my university email in the educational breakdown form to CA BON, which is almost unheard of.

Hi. How long did you wait for CGFNS to process your eDAS? I just updated my BSN transcript that was used in 2019 since it didn't have the conferred date.
CGFNS was relatively quick, about 4 weeks. If they have to obtain a new transcript, I imagine this timeline will be at least double, but cannot say for sure.

Hi, is that really the quickest way, apply license in New York and have it endorse to CA?
No, I would not do that. I am currently living and working in NYC which is why I went this route.
Hi, can I ask which agency did you use?

I have CGFNS CES report for CA BON issued in December 2022.. I have applied for my License endorsement from Michigan. Does anyone know if I still required to contact my nursing school for sending the transcript? According to the RN endorsement application instructions, "The Board does not require applicants to pass the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) examination in order to be licensed in California. Although, if you have been evaluated by CGFNS, the Board will accept official copies of your nursing transcripts (including the clinical portion of your training) from this organization" . Can someone help me with an answer?
