I'm having trouble getting urine smell out of laundry that has sat hidden for a day or two. Anyone have any suggestions. I work at a large boys camp so this is a common problem.

Try adding either some white vinegar, or some washing soda (sodium carbonate). Either one is helpful with odor removal. You can also try putting a small amount of hair conditioner as a fabric softener/odor remover.

Can you do a pre-wash cycle? It really helps.

Then do a regular wash with a heavy-duty detergent or with an additive.

Ammonia works pretty well getting rid of odors.

Baking soda? What about totally toddler? That works well. I have a three year old and it helped with accidents. You can dump it directly in the washer. Totally toddler is for urine stains and food stains etc. You can get it at Meijer in the baby section.

When I cloth diapered, my daughter had strong smelling urine. I'd wash with baking soda and stick some plain vinegar in a downy ball for the rinse cycle. Worked pretty well, actually.

For problem odors (urine in particular) I put white vinegar in the fabric softener dispenser, then do an extra rinse. Arm & Hammer detergent also helps.
