The Veteran's Administration (VA) hospital in Durham has a federal union, but North Carolina, in general, is anti-union. IIRC, Duke tried in the past but the movement was defeated; don't know all the details.

This is the South, Keep Dreaming. LOL the Nurses in general in the South need to, excuse the southern phrase, " Learn themselves," about the way the Californians Unionised.

NC is not a union-friendly state at all, not for nurses, not for any group. Even when credit unions started becoming more popular, there were people around here who got their panties in a wad because of the word 'union'. Seriously. Unless, like another poster said, you work at the VA, your chances of finding a unionized hospital are about zero. Sorry!
ok, thank you guys. mostly ladies

NO not yet! But perhaps you can bring them here from Illinois . We are are probably more ripe and willing then ever for a Union. staff/pt ratios, so many non-nursing duties placed on the nurses...
