UMB FALL 2011

I will be applying for the Fall 2011 program at UMB really really soon. I was wondering if anyone else was doing the same...? I'm really nervous about applying because Anatomy really kicked my butt last semester and I ended up getting a C (even though I ended up doing really well on my other science courses). Now, I'm losing hope. Anyone feeling the same?

I was doing NECP, but I only applied to UMB. My enlistment ends this year and I am getting out the AF, and will use my GI bill to go to school. I was going to reenlist if I was accepted to UMB and the NECP. Good luck with everything!!

You too! At least you will get to be a nurse whether you are in or out of the military. If I don't get re-accepted to NECP this year, I will be getting out and going Guard or Reserve and will go to school full-time as well. I wish you the best of luck! :)

I dont think they will call for someone who don't get accepted. I hope and pray that we all in here, all nurses.com, get accepted.

When i got my call -in November for this spring - i did ask if they were calling everyone or just those that were accepted. I was told that they were going to call only the accepted students. The admissions office said that they usually do not call, and just send letters but as the process was so lengthy and people had to make decisions/pay deposits ASAP, admissions was calling this time. They also asked if we were planning on accepting the phone - but no deposit was required right then. They just needed to know an apx # of student that were planning accepting. Unless admissions said that they were calling again this time, i would not bet for 100% that they will this time.

good luck all and remember to breathe!

Sandi- Thanks for your reply, it helps to answer some of our questions. You and gray lady have been great, it's nice to get some answers/opinions from people who are there.

Gray lady had posted a few weeks ago that the admissions office was going to try and call applicants. This surprised me, I thought they only did that before because they had fallen behind in the process, so who knows if that is how they are going to be doing it now. Either way, I know we are all so hopeful and the wait is really hard, but hopefully it will all work out for the best for us and we can join the ranks of you guys at maryland in the fall. (And hopefully the wait isn't too much longer, my nerves can't handle much more! ) :o

If GrayLady says that they will call, then that is what is going to happen - she knows her stuff! And yes, she is a real person on the SG campus. I have not been keeping up as much on this thread, sorry!

i know that this time of waiting can be hard - but i can say IMHO/E you that stressing over these things is going to make the time pass slower. The trees are beautiful in the dc area (too bad the weather is not!) try to get out and enjoy the blossoms while they are here! and if you are like me - pop some claritin before you go tree viewing! ;)

I actually called the nursing school yesterday, and they said we should expect at the end of April.

It is toooooooooooooooo long to wait.

What?! Another month?!? That is so disappointing! I am shocked. First I expected to hear back at the middle of march, then first week of april, and now end of april. So it is going to be close to a 3 month wait total. I am bummed about that- I just feel like so much of my life is up in the air right now, in terms of next fall, and schedule and will I get into nursing school, and if so which one; I would like to be able to know so I can start making plans and getting ready for life/school depending on the program. I can't believe we have another month to wait! :crying2:

Hey guys, don't take what they said on the phone too seriously. They are surely frustrated with all the phone calls asking when things are going to be posted and are putting out the latest possiable date to keep their phone lines clear (lets say there are 4 applications for every 1 spot, thats over 480 applications just for the traditional BSN program, add in RN-BSN, CNL and the other Masters Programs and that is a huge amount of people calling in to ask about their application).

Not going to lie, I am a bit frustrated that late April is on the table. There is a scholarship that I am applying for that has a clause that a student must be enrolled in a BS program for the Fall to recieve the scholarship. I am not sure I can get a nomination (which is step one) without an acceptance somewhere and the deadline for the 1st step is mid-April (I dont think my school will use one of it's nomination's on a student that doesn't have an acceptance somewhere).

I know it's so frustrating.

Has anyone else on here applied to the RN-BSN program for Fall 2011?

@ Nurse999 - I have my app in for the RN-BSN program. I've been lurking this thread for a while as there doesn't appear to be a similar one for RN to BSN apps. I did just notice that my admission decision was updated to "Committee ready". I feel like an underdog, I'm graduating this May with my RN. Good luck to you!

I'm in the same boat as you. I don't graduate with my RN-ADN until this May either. That's interesting they changed your status to committee ready without you being able to have your RN license turned in. I was wondering about that because mine still says requirements outstanding due to not being able to turn my license in. I may have to call in to someone about that...

When I went to an open house down in Baltimore, an admissions rep said I needed to emphasize that I did not yet have my license but I was planning to obtain it and include when I will take the NCLEX. Might be something they're still processing, it just was changed for me within the past couple days.
