UBC 2021

Hiya folks!

It's a bit early, but since the application period opens in a couple of months, I thought I'd start this topic to share support/encouraging words/info/nervousness.

Is anyone else already excited for next September?

The courses you are doing now will not be calculated in your GPA but will be looked at for completion if I recall correctly. So "conditional acceptances" may be sent out before they get your transcript.

That makes sense, I appreciate the clarification! Guess all we can do now is wait. I am sure we will all end up right where we need to be. Good luck to everyone!

I did not. I allready knew alot on the topics as part of my family is first nations. The questions didn't ask for them as a requirement and I wouldn't worry about it. I didn't want more things eating up my word count.

Pheeew! I thought I was the only one. I honestly enjoy learning more about you. I really hope we end up in the same cohort ?

When you are writing the  " List of Work, Volunteering, Community, and Family Service" section, did all of you exceed the 250 characters max limit?

when I try to save the work it did not tell me I am over that number.

I had the same question and went to advising. They told me to stick with what is in the application (250 max).

Sorry, I  have one more question for "List of Additional Learning and Accomplishments". I saw on canvas, the requirement for this section is 50 words, does it have a character limit( the same as " List of Work, Volunteering, Community, and Family Service").

Did you guys stay in the 250 characters max limit or Did you guys stay in the 50 words limit?

I originally had 250 characters max but when I copied/pasted from my separate doc into the SSC form, I edited it a bit and it went through the system without an error message - I might have ended up exceeding the 250 limit by a tiny bit, should I be worried?

No, don't be sorry! It is very confusing! For the "List of Additional Learning and Accomplishments", it is actually 300 characters max. This was in the modules section on the Canvas site. When I brought it up in the advising session, they told me to follow the character count which includes space. So, "List of Additional Learning and Accomplishments" would be 300 characters, " List of Work, Volunteering, Community, and Family Service" was 250 characters max. This does not make sense at all but this is what they told me!

Because this was kinda unclear on their end, do you think that they will be forgiving with going slightly over word count? - Or I guess I mean over character count but still under word count

I hope so! I have a feeling that they will be forgiving. If you have already submitted your application and it went through, then I think that's okay? My gut says it's okay but if you want to make sure, you can always email them.

Yeah I've already submitted but this is giving me a ton of anxiety LOL - What is the appropriate email should I contact?

I have never emailed them. Does anyone else know which email address to use?

Aww same! It's nice to make a friend before the cohort begins ?

I am glad to see that I'm not the only one who hasn't submitted their supplemental! I recently got a conditional acceptance at UofA for their after degree program so I have been dreading having to edit my supplemental and submit ? but I don't want to not hand it in (if that makes sense) LOL
