UBC 2021

Hiya folks!

It's a bit early, but since the application period opens in a couple of months, I thought I'd start this topic to share support/encouraging words/info/nervousness.

Is anyone else already excited for next September?

Hey guys!

I emailed admissions and they said we can expect a decision from now to mid April. Is this true?

I thought they normally go out early May...

Really? Now as in after Feb.28th? I have only ever seen them send out a decision early May but would love to hear back earlier. ? I have submitted my supplemental in early November.

I think last year they also said that they were hoping to get them out by the end of April but that did not happen. I am not going to get my hopes up.

Oh my goodness...that's interesting considering they've expressed an increase of applicants. I'm wondering how they are doing this since one of our deadlines is in June to submit our final transcripts.

I noticed my status now says "Your application is currently being reviewed by the faculty/school" whereas before it said " Your file is ready for an evaluation". Not sure when that update occurred. I think I might have a heart attack when I receive the decision letter in my email. ?

Yeah im just gonna wait until may

I am still taking some courses before I graduate in April.

Are there 'conditional acceptances' or will I have to wait until after I send in my final transcript to get a decision?

The courses you are doing now will not be calculated in your GPA but will be looked at for completion if I recall correctly. So "conditional acceptances" may be sent out before they get your transcript.

Did you all cite your sources in the last 2 questions? I didn't know we were supposed to and submitted my application. Does anyone know what happens if we didn't?

I don't think its a big deal tbh, I just did an in text citation like (CBC, 2019) but nothing too formal.

Yes, same for anatomy as that occurred to me last year.

When you are writing the  " List of Work, Volunteering, Community, and Family Service" section, did all of you exceed the 250 characters max limit?

when I try to save the work it did not tell me I am over that number.

I did not. I allready knew alot on the topics as part of my family is first nations. The questions didn't ask for them as a requirement and I wouldn't worry about it. I didn't want more things eating up my word count.
