TWU Spring 2010

Is anyone out there applying to TWU for the Spring of 2010? Just thought that I would start a group for all of us hopefuls so we could share information and have a way to communicate with each other.

Have you taken your HESI A2 yet? Have you taken all of your pre-reqs? If not, what do you have left to take?

I have taken all of my pre-reqs, and I just took my HESI yesterday. I didn't think it was bad at all, but I prepared for it for about 3 weeks.

If you haven't noticed, TWU has made some slight changes that I think some people will not be happy with. They are taking into consideration the first grade made at pre-req attempts for several of the classes like A&P, micro, and another class. What do you think of this? I wonder how it will change the applicants chances of getting in?

Good luck and I look forward to meeting you!

Hi. It's 30 for the fast track for each campus. And 80 for the traditional. One campus (alternating year) will have 100 while the other 80. The 100 has the fast track candidates included which is 30 added in. It there is no fast track then it is 80. I grilled ******* on this.

yes, i did hear that also. on the other hand, I have also heard there is more to it than just those 2 numbers. So, who knows? Personally, I beleieve it is just the HESI and GPA that they are looking at. I have heard that there is an equation that they use and plug those 2 numbers (GPA and HESI) into it. One time, I bravely called ***** at the Dallas campus and asked her if that was true lol, and she said yes, but we were not suppose to know that. I quickly said bye and hung up. Does anyone know about this equation? That would definately be helpful to know about. Someone on here also mentioned that the HESI was going to count for more than the NET used to. So whoever mentioned that might know.

Kimmy088, don't doubt yourself, although i know it is easy for me to doubt myself at times. We all go through that too, but then that just makes us feel worse about ourselves and that makes for a really long time to wait until October! So, don't feel bad pls. If you have done everything that you can possibly do, then that is your best, right? So many people on past boards doubted themselves, but they still got in. which is amazing. I am sure it will happen this time for us too! Is this the first time you are applying? Also, don't worry about your GPA not being good enough. As long as it is up there, 3.7 and above, I think you will be fine. I am not saying anyone who has below a 3.7 is not good enough; I am just being realistic and looking at past people who got in and what TWU said is competitive. Also, it is just the nature of how competitive nursing school is. It is sad when a 3.6 is considered "low".

Thanks :nuke: I guess it gets really easy to look at all of the things against you especially when people start comparing GPAs/NET scores or researching the cutoff from years previous. haha... i really need to stop that or it will be a very long wait until october! okay quick GPA question... is the GPA calculated from just the prereqs? it is correct? (i'll have a degree by the end of the year, so i was just checking)

yes, the GPA is counted from only the pre-reqs they ask for.

Girl, don't research the GPA thing; that only makes it worse lol. You still want to be sane when the Spring comes!! But I totally get your feelings.

Hi christine12,

I called ***** and asked her about it. I am totally not saying that what you said is wrong; im just repeating what she told me...she said for Dallas they are admitting 110 students for regular track; for Houston, 80 for regular track and 30 for fast track. She said both campuses will have 110 students that way.

Okay, so let me get this correct...

Dallas is admitting 110 regular students for this spring?

Houston is admitting 80 regular students for this spring and 30 for fast track?

yup, you got it!

Awesome! I was getting it incorrect. I am much happier now! lol

lol, that's funny. u know what is amazing to me? I started the uta thread like a month before i started this one, and this one has waaaay more responses/hits than that board does. like triple the number. twu must be way more popular among students or uta students just don't get on this site.

Elizabelle, I was in Dr. *****'s class on Saturday too the past two semesters. Where did you sit? I'm concerned about the HESI A&P portion though. I take the test next Thursday on the 25th. Maybe the past month or so out of class has killed my brain but some of the questions were eye openers for me. Need any guidance I can get.

Hi! I actually took A&P I&II with ***** in winter '07 and spring '08. I have been working on my prereqs 1-2 at a time for the last couple of years, since I have been working full time, and I have 2 kids. I am not scheduled to take the HESI until next month. I plan on reviewing all of my notes from A&P I&II, and I also got an A&P quick review (Cliffs Notes) and the HESI study guide. Hopefully I will do well. I have been out of class even longer than you! Good luck! :D

Seriously!??! Man, they need to get their stories straight up there! I was also told that there were only 80 spots in Dallas, and 110 in Houston for spring. I am glad that I was misinformed! 110 spots is WAY better odds!!!:yeah:

hey i was in Dr. *****s class in Fall 2007 too. Elizabelle, maybe you were in my class.
