TWU Spring 2010

Is anyone out there applying to TWU for the Spring of 2010? Just thought that I would start a group for all of us hopefuls so we could share information and have a way to communicate with each other.

Have you taken your HESI A2 yet? Have you taken all of your pre-reqs? If not, what do you have left to take?

I have taken all of my pre-reqs, and I just took my HESI yesterday. I didn't think it was bad at all, but I prepared for it for about 3 weeks.

If you haven't noticed, TWU has made some slight changes that I think some people will not be happy with. They are taking into consideration the first grade made at pre-req attempts for several of the classes like A&P, micro, and another class. What do you think of this? I wonder how it will change the applicants chances of getting in?

Good luck and I look forward to meeting you!

did you guys get the review for the test on blackboard? I can't find it, although she said she would post it today by 2.

OK, if you look at the announcements page on the patho page, I think she means for that to be the review. If in fact it is, then I don't know what I was waiting for as it really is a very inadequate review. Oh well, I suggest following what SuperSweet suggested. :)

Good luck ladies,

lea

I think that is the review as well. It is very short. I guess we have to just buckle down and read the book!

But I really want someone to spoonfeed me!!! :)

OK, now I'm done looking at all the job openings available in our area I'm not feeling depressed about the NOT-shortage of nurses going on in this country. I don't even know why I bother to read some of these posts about how new grads can't find jobs right now. It's not really relevant to me right now anyway. I'm going to try to ignore them for at least the next 2 years until I'm graduating (ok, assuming I get in this next semester that is ;) )

I have a couple friends that are recently graduated nurses and I really don't think the shortage of jobs applies to our area. My friends haven't had any trouble finding jobs. But you're right - we have a few years to worry about it!

yah, I guess that is the review. Funny how I thought there would be more haha. Tomorrow, I will buckle down and really start.

I should find out this week or next week if I got into UTA or not because UTA cancelled their interview process, claiming that it was too sujective and didn't make a real difference when admitting a student!! I was not expecting news for another month or so!

About the jobs, like I said before, my husband promises there is no real shortage if you are truly a qualifed applicant. And like you said, we have a couple of years to worry about it, and I'm sure by then if there was a problem, that it would get better by then. I have faith.

Wow that is great that you are going to hear from UTA so soon, and didn't have to go through the interview process. I am sure that is a relief! I am keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Go Goopsy! Go Goopsy! Ok, I hope you get into UTA but I hope you decide to go to TWU :) How's that for encouragement?

Ladies,

I forgot to mention that all the test are curved, which helps ALOT!! There arent a whole lot a A's in her class. Im sure she gave that speech already. The curve gives everyone 10-20pts/test!!! The first test had the largest curve and then it goes down from there as everyone gets in the swing of things. Dont sweat it-Do your best!!

I agree with Elizabelle and Goopsy that the job market in our area is not typical of what you are reading in computer land. I have heard only good things about all the jobs out there and nurses being placed prior to graduation. I think I will choose to be positive Patty !!:nurse:

Is anyone else tired of this drury weather....Really makes me :(

Goopsy, Best Wishes to you, let us know! :yeah:

I love it...Positive Patty. That's who I'm going to be. I'm glad someone else is seeing this too 'cause I left my job 7 months ago to make this happen and I'm going to be real disappointed if I've chosen something that I can't even get a job (ok, just small vent there). Although nothing would really stop me from doing it anyway, so I don't know why I'm even concerned. Everything will work out the way it's supposed to and I'll be fine. I just get a little rattled when I look at my bills every month and I know that I don't have an income right now (we have hubby's) and things are tight, doable but tight, and I really don't want to come out of this with some school debt and no job. Guess I'm probably right there with a lot of folks huh?

BTW, anyone heard of SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder), yeah well count me in the afflicted category. I suck when it gets rainy/cloudy for several days in a row. Rain, rain, go away, come again another day.

Ok, Elizabelle and Goopsy, I'm trying to make my way through chpt 15 and her notes include things that the book doesn't and of course the book includes WAY more than her notes and are not in the same order. Am I losing it or what? I'm trying to use her notes and add to them my own take on what the book says, but I can't even find some of the stuff that she's included. I can tell this is going to be fun. Although I have the book and the CD that came with it, I might end of investing in the Pathophysiology online course for $59.95. Might be worth it. Are either of you having trouble just trying to get started?
