TWU Spring 2010

Is anyone out there applying to TWU for the Spring of 2010? Just thought that I would start a group for all of us hopefuls so we could share information and have a way to communicate with each other.

Have you taken your HESI A2 yet? Have you taken all of your pre-reqs? If not, what do you have left to take?

I have taken all of my pre-reqs, and I just took my HESI yesterday. I didn't think it was bad at all, but I prepared for it for about 3 weeks.

If you haven't noticed, TWU has made some slight changes that I think some people will not be happy with. They are taking into consideration the first grade made at pre-req attempts for several of the classes like A&P, micro, and another class. What do you think of this? I wonder how it will change the applicants chances of getting in?

Hi everyone, I was just wondering if anyone has ever thought of TCU or Baylor for their nursing program? I am also waiting for spring 2010 and wondered why no one ever speak of their nursing program.

I third the 2nd degree Mommies going back to school! I am 42 yr. and earned my first B.S. in 1990-Foods and Nutrition. I have a 13, 5 and 4 year old! I too am hoping for acceptance into the Spring 2010 program. I have been attending TWU since Summer of 07 and taking 1 course at a time to complete the core. I cant believe it is "GO Time"!! I have been following the threads since this summer and finally joined up! Yeah for Spring 2010 nurses to be and Best wishes to us women and men!! :yeah:

Hey 2nd degree Moms and other pre nursing friends, I had Patho with McCarther in Spring of 2009. If you have questions or concerns don't hesitate to ask:wink2: I found the course to be the hardest course yet as it puts everything all together and you really need to have a working knowledge of the systems forwards and backwards. Currently I am taking Spanish 1013 for enrichment, if anyone has any tips they would be greatly appreciated!

SuperSweet, funny that you're taking Span 1013 'cause I was registered for it and then dropped it when I found out that TWU actually offers a Medical Terminology course. Amazingly it was under the Health Sciences degree and I've never seen it before. I still definately want to take Spanish and will probably do so next summer (assuming I'm in nursing school by then) because I feel that anyone who's going to be a nurse in Texas needs to be able to communicate with the large spanish-speaking population we have in this state.

OK, I do have a question about ********s tests, how in-depth and detailed are the questions. Our first test is next Monday and she's going to post the review today. What do you suggest studying? Review, Study Guide chapters, her chapter notes or read the book 3 times like she suggests. I'm at a loss as to where to begin.

Those were my exact thoughts as to why take the course! Its actually fun, no stress as this is not going towards core for nursing school!

What I did for her test was read the chapters and expand on her chapter notes, sometimes adding to them by using a different color ink.(computer) I also used the CD rom for practice questions. I then made note cards that reviewed the specifics of importance from her review. Dont be fooled by memorizing vocabulary or going straight off the review as its usually not like the test. Know the the Mechanisms, how they work and what happens when something goes wrong. Some people strictly went off notes and its really not enough. Reading and comprehending is the key. She also throws in a few obscure questions from the chapter very detailed. Dont worry too much on the first test just do your best you'll get a feel after it how she test. I made a B in the class, using the methods above. Good luck! NO STRESS :p
