hi everyone! just found this site and wanted to say hi! i am also taking patho at the dallas campus. i'm having a hard time finishing these chapters up...

Welcome Suniiiie, Glad to have you!! What a great user name, with this drury raining weather we are having. Study hard and do your best, the first test is always a challenge until you figure the prof. style. After that you will get your groove.

OK, how sad is this? I spent an hour last night going through all the nursing courses we have to take and figuring out what my schedule would probably look like over the next 2 years. Pretty lame, huh?

Just for those who want to know, that first semester doesn't look too bad but the second one (Fall 2010 for us) includes a clinical that goes from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm one day a week. Yuck.

OK, back to studying chpt 17 & 18.

So what does it look like next semester? I am really curious about that. I have no idea what to expect in terms of our (hopefully) schedule.

If they stick to the same schedule days and times, which I can't imagine that they would change it since it looks like they've got a good system down, the schedule looks like this:

Mon: 2:00 - 4:30 Nursing Assessment/Life Span

Tues: 9:00 - 12:00 Pharmacology

Tuesd: 1:00 - 4:00 Concepts /Clinical Competencies.

Wed: 8:00 - 12:30 Clinical

Thurs: 8:00 - 2:30 Clinical

Hi Sunniiiie! thanks for posting that butterfly; I wonder when patho would have been scheduled? Elizabelle, I also have one friend who has her ADN, and she has never taken pharm or patho either. I was completely shocked when I found that out. I took pharm at UTA over the summer in an 11 week course and it was so much valuable information. I can't imagine being a nurse without that knowledge because 90% of what a nurse does involves medication. I'm wondering how she knows what the adverse reactions are for a medication, what normal dosages look like, and even how to teach the patient how to take the meds and what not to take them with! It was really complicated info, but an asset to my education for sure!!

yeah, I knew it was the class we are taking now, but didn't realize at the same time. thanks lol! That makes sense.

OK, I'm reading the chpt on headaches and I have a BIG one from reading the chapter on headaches. :)

Hey ladies! i'm dragging my feet thru ch 17. gonna try to get a lot done...i have a 10K race tmr morning! then, back to the grind...

i also have a biochem test next thursday...someone, shoot me already! lol!

OK, I'm just going to say it. Chpt 17 sux. I'm so done with Neuro. arrgggghhhhh... I now only have chpt 18 to finish. Thank goodness.

btw, goopsy and elizabelle, have you noticed that there are things in her notes that are not in the book. Like Parkinson's and Huntington's is not under degenerative diseases in chpt 17, but they are in her notes. There are some other little things that I've noticed like that too.
