TWU Spring 2010

Is anyone out there applying to TWU for the Spring of 2010? Just thought that I would start a group for all of us hopefuls so we could share information and have a way to communicate with each other.

Have you taken your HESI A2 yet? Have you taken all of your pre-reqs? If not, what do you have left to take?

I have taken all of my pre-reqs, and I just took my HESI yesterday. I didn't think it was bad at all, but I prepared for it for about 3 weeks.

If you haven't noticed, TWU has made some slight changes that I think some people will not be happy with. They are taking into consideration the first grade made at pre-req attempts for several of the classes like A&P, micro, and another class. What do you think of this? I wonder how it will change the applicants chances of getting in?

Good luck and I look forward to meeting you!

Hey Houston people I live at an apartment complex at 610 and 59....the rent is actually reasonable. I have a 1 bedroom and my boyfriend has a 2 and both rents aren't too bad compared to other areas in Houston.

Hi Goopsy,

I was wondering if you could send me the guide that you mentioned. I am taking the test on December and i want to make sure that i am studying the correct information.

hey guys!!! OK, I officially declined my TWU offer. That means I'll be at UTA :) I felt like my heart would jump out of my chest, but I feel good about my decision. Good luck you guys!

sure, it's the same study guide that LadyVol posted on this forum. But I do have a pdf of it, if you like. what is your email address?

Hi ls020879, If you live in Dallas area, I can let you have one HESi book since I have two.

Wow! Thanks, that nice of your part but unfortunately i am in Houston.:(

Hey guys, I just applied at TWU for the houston campus. I am now in the process of studying for the HESI so that hopefully i will pass it and fill out the app. for the nursing program. My GPA is currently 3.8 and i should finish my associates by December. I have heard different stories like the GPA that i have will not get me into the program, that the HESI is too hard. It had been 10 years that i had not gone to school. My my dad and sister went through cancer at the same time and I was dissapointed that i could not help them. This is what motivated me to go back to school to become a nurse. But after hearing all these comments I'm not sure if i should continue. Do you'll think that my GPA will help me getting into a university. I just got an e-mail from UT rejecting my application. I am so dissapointed :crying2:. Any comments on what else i can do that might help me getting into the program.

No, definately continue!!!!!!!!!!!! You can do it. I am not sure about UT and why you didn't get in, but for TWU Houston, you are a shoo in!! U will make the cut. Traditionally TWU Houston has been lower than TWU Dallas by 0.2 or 0.3 I would say. My GPA for Dallas was a 3.811, and I got in. So for Houston, you will have no problem. That is of course, as long as you do well on the HESI.

Is0,

You can do it! If its something you really want you will find a way :) If it means taking a class over or taking the Hesi again so be it! Be true to yourself. Obviously this is something that you have been called to do. Your story is similar to mine. As a child all the way until I was a senior I wanted to be a nurse! Then I doubted myself told myself I couldnt do it and gave up on my dream. Then as an adult my brother died of leukemia and my baby sister had breast cancer. This then pulled at me to pursue my dream again. I now am 42! 2 years ago I started taking 1 class at a time getting the core out of the way and putting forth my best effort. Last year I applied and had a the great grade point but didnt pass the Net!!! I then took remedial course work to improve on my weaknesses. I was devastated and down. Then they changed to the Hesi and I studied and prepared and reviewed. I passed this summer and applied again. I am now going to nursing school in January. It has been a Journey- and I thank God for everything as without him I couldnt do anything. (and of course my SUPERMAN Husband) I know he wants this for me and I finally will be able to feel complete!!! I hope by sharing my story this will motivate others who doubt themselves and that it will inspire you to follow what you have been called to do! DONT GIVE UP!!!

your gpa is definitely competitive for twu! i just got in to the houston campus with a 3.7 and a 94 on the hesi. i think most people who were accepted posted their stats so you can go back and compare. for the hesi, it is definitely not too hard, but i do STRONGLY recommend the study guide listed on the website (you can also get it at barnes & noble) just so that you know what the test layout will look like. also, there's a medical vocabulary section on the exam, and most of the questions are on words they define in the book.

i was accepted to ut houston also, if you don't mind me asking, did you get an interview? or did they reject your application without one?

Is020879 your gpa is considered competitive. Apply to TWU!!! My advice is to get your HESI at 85 or higher (per nursing advisor's advice) and keep keeping on. If nursing is your calling, don't let anything deter you from your dreams. :heartbeat

I was accepted for an interview. I got kind of nervous but i know that my responses to the questions were pretty good. they told me that they had 1500 applicants and only got 300 for the interview. Out of the 300 they only got 85. With my luck i was not accepted
