TWU NP program / advanced patho

I am planning on taking advance patho this summer. Has anyone taken advance patho online through TWU and how difficult was it. Is it recommended by itself or can I take it with another class.

I took the in class lecture. It's a lot of material to learn. Most people took theory and patho together.

Thanks for your response, I actually tried taking patho at the Dallas Parkland campus and dropped after the first exam, I would like to try taking it online since other things such as case studies, and discussions, factors into your grade and not just the exams. Do you have any information or know of some one that took the course online?

No. I didn't even know they offered a patho online and I also do not no anyone that has taken it online. Have you taken any other pre req for the n. P program and will they let you take the online rather then the in class lecture.

I took it last summer at Texas Tech but I'm in their ACNP program. It was pretty difficult but I had plenty of time to study since I'm not working during school.

I took this course at the Dallas campus just last semester 2011. It was definitely a challenge and demanded continuous daily studying and reading... well lots of work and very little life if you work full-time. I would encourage you to give it another shot by itself (take it alone). Plan to study everyday at least 1.5 hour minimum of uninterrupted time. I recorded lectures (with professor permission) & listened to them after class, in the car, whenever to get the info into my brain! Also, a really helpful tip is using that extra study guide! There were always several questions on the exam in the study guide and it pretty much guided me to how well I'd fair on the exam. I would imagine the Online class (which I had no idea even existed), would require more paperwork homework/quizzes, busy work and consume more time + Exams. Don't give up! Gather yourself when energy and motivation are stable and go back for the In-Class Lectures 100% prepared to dedicate yourself start to finish. Even if you score low on the 1st test, there are 3 more to go and 100 questions per test, which allows you to miss more ;) Like our professor said: "This is the weeder class." Good luck

UMASSONLINE has an online program, can look at the website to enrolled as as nonmatriculated student price about 1400.00

take home essay like test

Nicola30195, just checking with you to see how the class is going. I am taking the online course this fall. Can you tell me the required textbooks?

Thanks!

The main book is Pathophysiology The biologic basis for disease in adults and children...author McCance Huether.... tests are now by proctorcam...a service that views you taking the test by webcam...lol No farts please(couldn't resist)

For those who took theory at dallas, do we really need all the required textbooks? The teacher wants us to get the most recent edition of the book which i can't find anywhere.

I didn't follow the plan they gave me. I took Theory on line with Dr. cho. From what I heard this class was much better than the one included with the NP PLAN.

I took theory several semesters ago at the Dallas campus. I only remember two books. One book was to help you construct a theory and the second was for reading assignment/quizzes.

I was wondering the same thing for theory. Also did anyone find the pocket guide for patho helpful. Saw good reviews on amazon but didn't know if it applied to our program. Also what was the best approach for studying patho?
