TWU in Denton NP Program OR UTA NP Program
Pay attention in class. The teacher will mention specific answers or what will ask for sure. I still read the chapters and she did have some questions from the book that where not mentioned in her notes or the review she gave us. I just bought the study guide as I did not know she takes some questions from it. Basically for this next test I'll be doing everything... trying to get the reading done before the lectures, going over her notes religiously, the study guide questions, and answering the questions she gives on the review.

Personality holding me back?
Never let anyone tell you can't be something you know you want to be. I have always been introverted and hate talking to strangers but can't imagine doing anything other than nursing. My very first clinical instructor told me she didn't think I would make it as a nurse and asked me if I really wanted to become one. She then saw me a couple weeks before I graduated nursing school and exclaimed "I'm so happy...! I didn't think you'd still be here...!". I have since been a nurse for 3 years and am about to start np school. My whole point is if you want to help patients and their family members it doesn't matter what your personality is because you'll still be a nurse and you'll still get your job done.

TWU NP program / advanced patho
For those who took theory at dallas, do we really need all the required textbooks? The teacher wants us to get the most recent edition of the book which i can't find anywhere.

Has anyone attended/ing NP program in Dallas/Texas?
Yes, UTA requires at least 2 years of experience. TWU requires one year before you start your clinicals. So you could still be accepted and take the initial classes like theory, patho etc while you finish up that one year of RN experience. Everyone I know who goes to NP school at either UTA or TWU works full-time. Most people do since they have families and can't afford to work less than full-time.

Has anyone attended/ing NP program in Dallas/Texas?
Both TWU and UT Arlington allow you to go to NP school part or full time. Their classes are both online and on campus. I'll be starting at TWU this January and any classes on campus meet once a week. I'm pretty sure this is the same for UT Arlington. Most students still work full-time and go to school part-time (1-2 classes per semester). I know once it comes to clinicals it would be difficult to still work full-time. I'm not as familiar with Baylor but it does say on their website they give acceptance preference to students who go to school full-time.

TWU in Denton NP Program OR UTA NP Program
Anyone starting the TWU NP program at Dallas Spring 2014? Just got a simple accepted letter telling me to contact the advisor (who I'm sure I should really be asking) but anyone know if there's any in person orientation? I would love to go to school full-time and switch to working part-time. Anyone else do this? I'm sure most people do the opposite.

Any help appreciated.
My uncle has liver cancer and according to the Doctor "a couple weeks" to live. He does not have insurance, obviously doesn't work anymore, and doesn't qualify for anything because he is 62. My sister and I have been relentlessly calling hospices here but no one will take him because he doesn't have insurance. It's sad. Any suggestions?

Patient asking for something at the wrong time...
My first shift on my own as a newgrad. A code black: moving every patient/bed/IV pole/02tank into the hallway because of a potential tornado. One patient in the hallway demanded his night-time medicine right then and there. NBD two other patients needed to get blood transfusions for active bleeding *Rolls eyeballs. I love people

Best shoes ever?
I use my old worn out sperrytopsiders. After trying numerous old running shoes these are the only pair that don't make my feet hurt. I will be a lost soul when they finally need to retire : p
