Then is it advisable to buy the text books. I don’t want to spend money Buying textbook if I can read the power points and pass the exams

I would buy the books. Not all of the information is on the powerpoints. You also need to understand the information and disease processes not just pass the exam.

Hey y'all! Congrats on starting the nursing program! I'm getting ready to apply for the Fall 2021 ADN program. I want to do the concurrent BSN program at UT Tyler. I saw a couple of you are doing that. I would love to hear how it is going for y'all. I'm so nervous about nursing school in general, so I am hoping I can handle the extra courses. Good luck to you all!

Hello!

When taking the HESI test, do they count the Science score? In which areas were you tested on? I appreciate any answers. Thanks

Hi! They require the math, grammar, and reading comprehension sections. They will let you do all the sections, but those are the only 3 required. You have to score above 75 in those 3, and to earn points for entrance, you need above an 80 in grammar and reading. 80-89 = 4 points. 90-100= 8 points.

I don't think TVCC uses any science scores from the HESI. I believe they use reading and math, unless it has changed in the past few years. I took the math, reading, A&P, vocabulary, and grammar.

Hi!

Thanks a lot for your response. Has anybody been accepted with SCIT 1407 , 1408 instead of BIOL 2401, 2402 (Anatomy and Physiology), and do the sciences classes expire? Thanks.  I want to make sure because my science are super old, and I do not want to retake them.

I took BIOL 2401 more than ten years ago. It was accepted with no problems when I applied to the college last year. You'd need to speak with advising to find out if your courses would transfer.

For everyone currently in the program, are any of you doing the concurrent BSN program with UT Tyler? I'm trying to get honest feedback about if it is way too much to handle on top of the ADN classes at TVCC.

I'm not doing the concurrent BSN program. Tvcc classes are enough for me personally.

Thank you for your honest feedback. I think the TVCC classes will be enough for me too. I might just a an RN-BSN bridge after.

Kell-Bell,

I am in the concurrent program with UTTYLER and I'll be honest the Summer Patho class was hard, but the classes for fall are basically busy work. In my opinion, it is doable but you have to be prepare to dedicate alot of time to it.
