Hello all!  I assume the site was down when y'all usually start the GM thread, so now that the site is up again, I am starting this one.

I slept pretty well last night.  We (dh and I) are in the middle of upgrading our phone apps to include the current vehicles.  Mine still had the old car featured on it!  Now is upgraded.

Not much planned for today.  Some cleaning.

I hope y'all stay warm and safe during the next cold storm!  Have a good afternoon and evening!

Gouda Aphterrnooon! Thanks for starting my day, dianah! (3:30 PM) No, I didn't sleep this late, but I didn't pick up my laptop until a few minutes ago,

It is cold here, something like 35 degrees. They are calling for snow on Saturday, which might actually start on Friday night, and may not stop  until Sunday afternoon. BUT! It is supposed to be a light, 'dry' powdery snow, thereby not causing power lines and trees to come down.

I haven't done a whole lot today, though I woke up thinking I would be a buzz-saw of activity. I have washed my white shoes with the towels and other bits of laundry. Haven't taken them out of the washer yet; they will take forever to dry, and I have no newspaper to stuff inside them. Oh woe. But I hope they are a bit spiffier looking than they were. I sprayed a lot of stain remover all over them, so they ought to look better.

I've walked Tinker twice and will be taking her out a third time in a short while. I cleaned off a shelf in one of the upstairs hall closets and put my secret stash of night-time snacks in there, so my bedroom doesn't look so much like a convenience store. I have a LOT of choices, but that doesn't mean that I gorge them all at once. So I figured they don't need to be on display on the shelves beside my bed!  DUH! They don't do that on HGTV, y'know.

I put up three 8x11 mirrors beside the closet, but I don't really like them. They are oval and have a simple frame, and I can't stand the frames. What I wanted was to get some 12x12  flat squares, have them cut down to be 12x8 and then mount them with two-sided 'stout' sticky squares, so the mirrors abut one another. These oval mirrors ARE 12x8 and I THOUGHT they would be an acceptable substitute, but the mirror glass is cheap; you can see the wobbly lines that cheap mirrors have. Up close that is not a problem, but from a short distance you can see the flawed mirroring. It has occurred to me that if and when Tinker sees herself in the mirrors, she will start barking at the "other" dog in the room, and so far she hasn't noticed anything, but she might if she is standing on the side of the bed and looks in that direction.

I was about to put my still-in-the-basket clean clothes away, when I felt a tad dizzy. I hadn't had anything to eat yet today; I always eat my breakfast/lunch around 3 PM, so maybe that's it. I sat down and had an Angus roast beef sandwich on toasted Naan bread, it was pretty good! The blood in my brain very nicely offered to donate some of itself to my stomach to digest what I ate, and now my brain feels tired out, affecting my legs, making me want to sit down, cause they feel wobbly. Can you imagine charting that about a patient on the job?

I have washed the few dishes I have used, tossed out-of-date stuff from the fridge. Now I have to gather all the trash and recycling to put out at the end of the driveway for tomorrow's AM pick up. Last week it was a 4 PM pick up 2 days after the storm because there was so much ice everywhere, they didn't want to take a chance and have one of their pretty trucks to have to work too hard, slip, slide, or crash. To be honest the roads were still pretty bad at that point.

I am wearing two jerseys and a vest, and my room still feels cold, although the thermostat is set on (I can't believe this) 74 degrees. I will have to turn the electric fireplace on in the den. There is a vent in the ceiling of the den that goes up to my room, to allow that nice ol' hot air to rise into my room. It isn't attached to anything, ie no heat from the whole system, it is just a hole made to look like a vent. But it does help....some.

I'm going to have to get up and be the janitor, ie empty the trash before it gets any colder. After that, I'm not sure if I will feel energetic enough to do all that other stuff I am so good at ignoring.

Go ahead ? roll your eyes at me, because I am doing the same.

My mother and sister always insisted the flavor of Dr. Pepper was prune juice so that is always what I think of. But I like Dr. Pepper (I don't mind prune juice and sometines drink it for its therapeutic benefits). Sometimes we would drink Dr. Pepper hot with lemon. Is that weird?

Sister is back to the hospital with hypokalemia (maybe she needs some prune juice). Apparently her cognition has been poor enough that "they" are looking at long term care. This makes me sad.

Band practice starts again tonight for Twin B and me. Friday night is going to be cold again so the church is doing the warming station just for that night -- until noon on Saturday. I don't know how cold but the latest forecast suggests we will just barely stay in double digits.

I get the annoying pop-up video but it is a minimized additional window so I can ignore it. Would be very annoying to have it be full screen.

Hi all. Thanks Dianah, for starting the thread. It is weirdly warm again, about 50. I know that doesn't seem warm for you southerly folks, but I long-sleeved t shirt kept me sufficiently warm while I was outside. The local ski resort has had to cancel their yearly race, that draws people from all over. Not enough snow, and what is there is too wet and mushy.

Dh went to pick up groceries and his prescription. He likes to shop at Costco, but there is no space for the quantities they sell. I've decided he likes Costco, because it reminds him of going to trade shows, and going up and down every aisle, looking at each product, and deciding on good buys. He did get a good buy on frozen broccoli, which I give to the dogs. But his prescription wasn't ready, so he'll have to go back tomorrow (insert crying emoji).

I always thought Dr. Pepper tasted like cherry coke. Pepsi tastes like robitussin cough syrup to me.

we are going over to dd's place for dinner and to watch the latest episode of The Pitt. The grandsons are fascinated by it, and have me "translate" for them.

Sounds like you got a lot done today, No Stars.  Good that the sammich took care of your 'neak wees' (weak knees).  It's amazing how 74 degrees is nice and cool in the Summer heat, yet 74 degrees in wintertime is cold!!  Stay warm and cozy.

nursej22, I haven't shopped in Costco for years!  I can see where your dh would enjoy cruising the aisles, seeing what is available for choices.  Haha, I had to look up The Pitt, and yes, you might have to translate for your grandsons!  Is it a good series?

Ado, sorry to hear your sister is in the hospital again.  I assume she isn't able to totally care for herself, thus the consideration for long-term care?   I prefer Coke over Pepsi, but every now and then would like a sugar-free Dr. Pepper, that would be OK.

I did some shredding the other day (one trash bag full), and finished it off today with TWO trash bags full!  Did some dusting.  Am slowly accumulating year-end info for tax purposes.  Dh got the car apps all straightened out, and delivered some paperwork to the RV storage business, so they will get the RV's smog inspection done.

That's it from here, not much going on, really.  Have a good evening!

When I was a teenager I loved Dr. Pepper first and foremost over any soda.  Today I don't drink soda but when I splurge it's a full sugar Coke.

Ado, sorry to hear about your sister.

Work sucked even worse.  A coworker was five hours late after having car trouble on the way to work.  Getting AAA to come at rush hour isn't going to happen fast.  Apparently they were able to get her car going.  She was out of gas and her gas gauge was broke, along with some other stuff.

Off tomorrow.  Need to shake off this bad mood.
