what are your thoughts about my situation.

hello,

I too am waiting to hear from the BON. In the previous summer I lost a job as a RN in a facility I loved. I probably would have retired from this place. I however got caught up with alcohol. I never went to work drunk but I was seen in a video placing an IV outside of the hospital and also drinking. I was fired when this video was placed on the internet by a "friend". I havent heard anything from the board yet, however, the Chief of Nursing at the hospital said she would be reporting me. It has been 6months and I live in fear that all I worked for will be ripped from my hands....what are your thoughts about my situation. I would think I would have heard from them by now. From this situation I have turned my life around, have given up alcohol all together and love my career even more today.

Thanks,

Ashlea

Thank u for your input. There were no medications just ns. I plan to just ride it out. I figured if they wanna get me they will. I'm carrying on in my nursing career. Learned a lot from a silly act on my part. Thanks!

Personally I think what someone does in their private life is their own business-even if it ends up on the internet. Unless I'm representing my work they have no right to interfere. If I want to get drunk, rip off my clothes and dance on a table in front of everyone that is my right to do so. Just because someone is a nurse doesn't mean they can't get drunk and make a fool of themselves...sheesh I thought this sort of attitude went out years ago.

Ok, the IV thing was stupid but hardly a firable offence unless illegal drunks were involved, even then it's a police not work matter.

I live in a different country but I don't think the board of nursing could care less about drunken antics. Maybe the reason you haven't heard from them is because it's too petty a matter to deal with.

But you see, that's the thing. When you decided to work for that employee, you decided to represent them both on and off of work. It really cannot be argued, that one should act all crass (maybe in front of patients) and then go back to work the next day, all calm and pure.

In an ideal world, that would be great, but we don't live in an ideal world. We live in a world where people have memories and try as much not to, sometimes what we see, stays on longer than what is heard. Actions do speak louder.

An example is this, there was a anchor person that had her private party pics splashed everywhere. Excellent news person by the way:), but after seeing those pics of her dancing. Sometimes when watching the news, those images of her dancing randomly pop up in my mind and I grin. Who would have thunk?:D

Ok my point is, yeah we do represent our various employers especially in some professions that matter the most.
