Yes I did technically practice out of scope...They are saying that the IV in the hospital was without a doctors order...Idk..we did this all the time. Its been gonig on for years. I geuss I was made an example. I havent called the board. Ive just been waiting to see what is going to happen. My manager told me I will most likely get a slap on the wrist, but I geuss I could get into a lot of trouble.

It wasnt the drinking that caused me to get fired. It was the IV. Also I failed to mention that I recieved an IV within the hospital and was also fired for that. The IV that was placed while drinking happened because there was a paramedic there who had the supplies we had a girl there that was ill so me being the super ER nurse (jk) that I am took matters into my own hand. Unfortunately, it was taped and placed on youtube. As for me recieving an IV while at work (again I work in an ER), it was no reason to fire me. The person who should have been fired was the one who placed the iv in me. They are claiming I practice out of scope. Who knows. Its been six months and I havent heard anything. I did leave on good terms, I didnt argue with them, I accepted what I did. I sucked up, mustered the courage I had left and went and found a new job which I love. I am now working in a neighboring state. If I get reprimanded in NJ (where i was working when fired), can I work in PA without getting in trouble. Can someone shed some light on this.

what are your thoughts about my situation.
hello, I too am waiting to hear from the BON. In the previous summer I lost a job as a RN in a facility I loved. I probably would have retired from this place. I however got caught up with alcohol. I never went to work drunk but I was seen in a video placing an IV outside of the hospital and also drinking. I was fired when this video was placed on the internet by a "friend". I havent heard anything from the board yet, however, the Chief of Nursing at the hospital said she would be reporting me. It has been 6months and I live in fear that all I worked for will be ripped from my hands....what are your thoughts about my situation. I would think I would have heard from them by now. From this situation I have turned my life around, have given up alcohol all together and love my career even more today. Thanks, Ashlea
