Nursing Students NCLEX

I will share my story about my nclex journey in hopes to uplift someone. I graduated from nursing school May 2014, I struggled a bit and had to work hard to get through but I did it! Biggest accomplishment of my life. My parents didn't go to college so it was a big deal to me. I tested for the nclex rn in June. I could not sleep the night before and went in a nervous wreck. I was there about 3 1/2 hours and had all 265. I failed. I was devastated but honestly not shocked. I still thought, though failed at 265 means i was close right??? I was in a slump for a while. Especially since I think maybe 3 including me, in my class had failed the first time . So I retested in late August after a Hurst live review, feeling more confident. Better rested I went in for about the same time and the computer shut off at 206! I thought yes this had to be it. Two days later. Failed! How could I have failed faster?!! The same day I tested, my fiance got fired from his job. So. Only my waiting tables is going to support us til he gets a new job?!? I was feeling the pressure and as if I had failed us too. Well, I was totally overwhelmed with working extra hours and I barely studied. Finally, paid for the test again to start trying. Meanwhile, the whole time I am dealing with my fiance being depressed. He has said things that made me worry about being away even to go to the store. He had been diagnosed years before and now with the job loss here it is. Finally after very hard times I scheduled my test for late Nov. Then the anxiety built and I realized I was not ready. I rescheduled and trying to buckle down more while still being the only one bringing money in..I tested Dec 11, sat for 5 hours. All 265, loaded with cardiac (a weakness of mine), priority, and stuff I absolutely never heard of before. I was calm, but yet still nervous at the same time. Then was woken up this morning by my in-laws calling to say I was a RN. What?! How?! I bawled. And then couldn't go back to sleep for a while.

Now.. Yes the nclex is so hard. It can be done though. Dedication and perseverance. Even a little bit of questions each day help. I used Hurst, ATI, a Kaplan book, lippencotts, lacharity pda and nurse mastery app. All helpful in their own ways. The allnurses forum. The best. I read others stories to see I wasn't alone! I am pretty sure I was the last of RSUs nursing class of 2014 to get it but still.....

THIS is the best day of my life. ?

Congrats! I am studying for my third attempt I may take it sometimes beginning February! Your post made me happy I am so happy for you! Glad you took your time third attempt with 265 questions!!
